Idk if he mentions it but, the reason the game is hard is because no matter how far you get, if you run out of lives YOU GET SENT BACK TO LEVEL ONE.

There’s a special button combo at the end of the game that’s required to beat the game. Unless you read the owner’s manual there’s no in game indication this move even exists.
  • I completed the megadrive version as a kid. The waterfall was the hardest part until you figure out that you can jump in a certain pattern to scale it quickly.

There was only 2 levels. Everything after that is a mystery. First level was doable, but I never learned the monkey throwing stuff, and gave up.

As a 90’s kid I can confirm that this was and still is the hardest game I’ve ever played, never made it to adult* Simba.
  • @ninetaildemon2000
I can actually say that I beat Aladdin and The Lion King both for the Sega Genesis back in the day.

30 years later. i finally got to see the full game.

"Whether they've played it or not, most gamers know that The Lion King is hard, but what most people don't know is that the developers made the game extremely difficult on purpose. Disney actually told the developers to make the game so difficult that people wouldn't be able to beat it during a rental period"

"You have to have a PhD to beat this game." "This game is what kept Blockbuster in business because you had to keep renting it." LOL I'm dead.

Most games released before 2000s are harder than dark souls

As a kid I never realized how much pride I would have in beating this game the older I got. I only played the snes version so I’m not sure how it compares to genesis version but hot damn. This game was downright diabolical. The fact I had to figure out how to throw scar at the end with no instructions on how to throw still baffles me to this day lol that’s pounce combo came in clutch.
  • @EpicNacho
I remember beating this game after playing it for years I literally cried and never again attempted to beat this game again
  • @SirTheobald
this game was ridicolously hard and I managed to put it in the back of my mind for 25 years. thank you for triggering some good old ptsd i love this

As a kid, I got this game on the Genesis, years later when it was (and probably still is) on the xbox live market place, I picked up the the packaged deal that include LK and Aladdin with their previous ports. I'm no speedrunner, but those games were hard af back then for those of us who just banged our heads at a wall trying to get through certain levels. Still hella fun to this day.

I remember playing this on a pc more than 2 decades ago I recall reaching the Scar level, but not whether I beat it or not (probably not). Was a fun watch. Thank you for bringing me down memory lane I love how timeless the video is btw. 3+ years old and just as good a watch as it would've been when it came out
  • @RATLORD111
That giraffe level is the cause of my anxiety and trust issues lmao
  • @StefanRindom
As a kid i did not even believe that you could play as grown up Simba in this game.
  • @Hunoa44
I still like Asmo's reactions to speedruns, they're(both runs and reactions) entertaining :)
  • @mubashir7343
13:07 Lol I struggled so much to get simba to preform that UFC move but I never could figure 😂
