There's a lot of things about designs for fursuits that you don't really think about, and it is worth bringing them up so there are no nasty design-related surprises when you finally get your suit!

Oh also remember that black fur can be REALLY HOT!
  • And also for fursuit commissioning tips: DON'T BE A JERK TO YOUR MAKER! They have spent SO much time getting to the point where they are now! In my past year of being in my fursuit makers chat there were two people who were just complete jerks to them when talking to them about fursuit stuff. Fursuit makers are people too! They aren't just robots that are there to churn out suits like no tomorrow.
  • White fur: Gets dirty Black Fur: Doesn't show up much Black fursuit with white: Nothing but a Pain XD
  • I've seen people wear bandannas on tails that drag on the ground, so the dirt gathers on the bandanna and not the tail, and to wash, they just take off the bandanna and put it in the washing machine
  • @Chibemo
I'm a maker and you'd be surprised how many people I have to ask what color thier characters tongue is x)
  • Another bad thing about black suits is that black absorbs all light waves, which means it also absorbs all the heat from the light waves of the sun, so it'll be easier to overheat.
  • I've made a few suits. And so far the hardest thing to do is lots of spots or stripes. Exaple: big cats, leopards, jaguars and or cheetahs (and so on).It takes a long time to make those markings. Especially when the spots are on the feet, hands or tail. That makes for a lot of weak points.
  • Be careful with the tails, especially if they’re really long Like, I have two tail designs for my fursona. One that’s really long and fluffy, and one that’s about average So when I (potentially) commission my partial, I’ll go for the average tail. ‘Cause 1. Bigger, fluffy tails = more fur being used. Which (possibly) means the price will go up 2. The bigger tail, can make it harder to navigate 3. Cleaning would be a pain with the big tail Some other tips 1. Try to make sure the character has moveable arms and hands. Might not be a big problem with partials, but could be with fullsuits. This is for a few reasons - While having “wing arms” can be cool, you’ll most likely be t-posing the entire time you’re wearing it. Which means your arms will end up being pretty sore - Unless you have a handler, or someone else to help you, basic things will be harder (putting the suit on/off, removing the head, eating/drinking, etc.) 2. Try to design a character with big eyes. I know having like, a realistic wolf, can be interesting. But! You’ll be sacrificing a lot of visibility, if you go for small/realistic eyes 3. Know how much heat you can handle, and try not to design a character, that’ll make you suit a sauna - Like, I had the bright idea of making my fursona a kemono. I can’t handle high temperatures. So, if I want to keep the kemono design, I’ll most likely have to go for a partial - Plushie suits look adorable, but they can be extremely hot 4. Try to make sure your character matches your height, body type, etc. - Don’t make it really tall if you’re short, etc. 5. If you’re fursona’s feral, make an anthro design - Ferals are typically on all fours. The only suits like this, are quad suits
  • Lights in a suit will definitely up your price and the mantnence is hard as you can not wash it in the washer!!!!!
  • I know there are a lot of characters with hair styles and stuff, the most common ones being the sort of hair over eye/emo-ish look, long flowy anime hair or spiky anime hair, and while it can be done it's really hard to pull off well without it just looking like weird fur clumps or a fur or a wig. Let alone vision, if you have hair covering your character's face then it'll limit your vision a lot more. Most of the time you'd have to change the hair to be a little tuft or something like on your Pocari suit so it doesn't get in the way
  • remembers my main fursona is almost entirely white except for the hair and tail oh. well Shit
  • 1,000 likes. 3 dislikes. I think even non Furs can agree that Pocari is awesome.

CLAW SIZE(if you have claws)!!!! claws will up the price if they are big and will make you're money say goodbye. i have a friend and he got a fursuit with big claws. the price went from 2462$ to 2512$. thats a 50$ raise!!!
  • Its obvious but MAKE SURE YOU ARE SURE ON THE DESIGN. i made my first suit Fish and changed her design 2 weeks later. Its an easy fix but be careful
  • Is anyone else a young furry waiting to get a suit like I am Pls reply ur fav fursuit animal/creature Edit: oml 100 likes! I wish that was my sub count XD

I feel like you should've mentioned LEDs those could be a real pain when washing and repairing/replacing. when washing you gotta make sure all the electrical parts are covered up and work extremely carefully around if washing a head. when suiting you gotta make sure you have enough battery Power and have extra batteries with you. good stuff my roo, keep it up !!
  • Darn, the end of my tail for Waffles the Ferret the end/tip of the tail is white. An i only have a little bit of white on Waffles :D
