Published 2023-01-23
Africa Tomorrow was produced by Richard Keefe through North South Productions, an independent film company in the UK, and it was broadcast on BBC TV on New Year's Eve, 1986. The film takes a look at how money raised by Band Aid was being spent on long-term development needs of famine victims in Ethiopia, following the devastating famine of late 1984. The film includes some of the songs performed at the Live Aid concert in Wembley Stadium, London, 13th July 1985. It also includes short to-camera pieces by David Bowie, George Michael and Bob Geldof. All footage and music was donated for use in the film as both a broadcast and non-broadcast educational programme. Film footage in Ethiopia was filmed by Sir Mohinder Dhillon (www.mohinderdhillon.com) and directed by Caroline Webb (www.carolinewebb.photography)
