Watch the BBC first on iPlayer πŸ‘‰ bbc.in/iPlayer-Home The procession through Parliament begins with the sound of trumpets filling the Royal Gallery, as the Queen walks through to head to the House of Lords.

The Imperial State Crown is just ahead of where the Queen is walking, being carried on a cushion.

The Prince of Wales is holding the hand of Her Majesty as she walks through the room. The Queen takes her seat on the throne in the House of Lords. She tells peers in the chamber to be seated and gives the signal for MPs in the House of Commons to come in to the Lords to hear the speech.

Black Rod knocks three times on the door of the Commons to summon the MPs.

The door is opened, and at this point she asks for MPs' presence during the Queen's Speech.

As our Political Editor, Laura Kuenssberg explains, there is a very different set up this year as MPs file from the House of Commons in to the House of Lords for the speech.

Normally the prime minister and the Leader of the Opposition would be making polite chit-chat, she says, but this year Keir Starmer has to walk a couple of metres behind Boris Johnson due to social distancing requirements.

The Queen's Speech starts on health and social care

Huw Edwards presents live coverage of the Queen's Speech from Westminster. A unique combination of pageantry and politics opens the first session of the new parliament, as Her Majesty the Queen outlines the government's plans for the coming year.

In the middle of pandemic, 95 years old, just has lost her husband a month ago, yet she does her duty so faithfully. My salute and respect to you, Your Majesty.

Sad to see one of the throne removed and her majesty’s now moved to the centre. She now reign alone. :(
  • I am speechless to see the 95 yr old Queen, after losing the love of her life just a few days ago, continue with her duty!!! If ever there was a truly inspirational lady, then that's Queen Elizabeth II!! Absolute respect!

This is an impressive ceremonial opening of Parliament. Interesting to observe. Her Majesty is remarkable. Less than a month ago, she buried her husband. And here she is, sharp as can be, serving her people at age 95. She is a legend.

I must say as an American, you people in the U.K. are so lucky to have such a gracious Queen. It's the middle of a pandemic, she's 95-years old and she recently lost her husband and your Queen is still standing strong and performs her duties with such dignity. Such an amazing woman and Queen!
  • May she rest in peace, what a wonderful work she has done. An inspiration for us all <3

I love how you can see the spot where Blackrod knocks on the door is work away after decades of hitting it in the exact same spot

Her Majesty still has such a strong voice. Wonderful delivery of her speech.

No matter what is happening to her, she still looks pertinacious and powerful. Though she had lost her most beloved husband, she looks stunning with no sense of disappointment whatsoever.

Talking about the family, what a blessing to have your mother at 95 so active and lucid.

The queen is doing well and is quite sharp mentally. She has been slowing physically for a few years. There was a period when she had a bandage on her right shin for quite a long time. She retains her sense of humor, her memory, and her focus on whatever topic at hand.
  • I don’t know the Queen but I have so much respect for her. 95 years old and still working. My grandma lived to 104 yo and she once said, if I retire what would I do? I just can’t sit around doing nothing. I respected that and now my mother also said the same thing,. What would you do if you retire? Fortunately for me, I always have guidance when I needed one. Much respect
