Aliens under the Ice – Life on Rogue Planets

Published 2018-12-27
Out in the vast coldness of outer space, there are planets that travel alone through darkness without the boundaries of a system. Here’s how this can happen – and why these frozen deserts might secretly harbor alien life.

Could we all pay respects to the sub-brown dwarf that got roasted in the beginning

"They're a sort of failed star, and we'll now stop talking about them" - my parents talking about me
  • "it's not like you would discover fire at the bottom of an ocean" Angry spongebob noises

It would be nice to live in a universe with Kurzgesagt's color palette
  • Imagine the existential crisis of the aliens if we ever got in contact with them and explained the universe to them

Rogue planet taking a moon/moons with them: Get in loser, we're becoming rogues
  • @jorgeluz9560
"how does a planet become a Rogue, anyway?" Well, first you want to have high Dexterity, like a 16 or higher. Next you need a higher attribute in either Intelligence or Charisma, like a 14.

Can we just show some respect for the animators? These videos are sooo well desinged, animated and edited. Well done guys! 🤘

5:53 that scene actually chilled me... it wasn't the alien killing the other one that chilled me, it was the fact that, just barely, only slightly lighter than the background, it said "shhh... no tears."

I am not sure if the idea of deep sea aliens that evolved under a planet wide ice sheet emerging from the depths is absolutely terrifying or incredibly awesome. Either way I’d love if someone made a movie about it. 💙💙

I love this idea. Imagine a sci-fi series where they are living on a frozen world and realize there was a civilization long extinct down there? No wood? Lots of shells and corals. Can't melt metal? Pistol shrimp can. I could see cities built on larger more active vents to heat the cities, which would eventually be domed (corals or shells held together) to trap the energy. They could even dig far enough down to get higher temps.

Two Kurzgesagt videos in one month! It's a Christmas miracle!

"Sub-brown dwarves. They're a sort of failed star." Brown dwarves are failed stars. Does that make Sub-Brown Dwaves failed failed stars? They not only failed at being a star, they failed at failing becoming a star.
