THAT WEDDING RING THO. I just can't accurately describe this without going into depths because you had me rooting for both sides and that's such a fragile balance you managed to achieve effortlessly. I also love how you crafted the frames, and the story is up for interpretation, because Thomas could be sarcastic, we don't know who lied and who didn't, or who the victim here was. (but here's my interpretation): Storyline: John had been going out with Alex for a while, and while John loved him, Alex thought he did too. Alex 'flown to close to the sun', and cheated on John with Thomas because they met at a party or something, reasons unknown, unclear, unnecessary. Point is, John's devastated by this, and this is the song after that happens. Thomas is singing to him how to be a heartbreaker, and it at first seems to be just to spite him, but Thomas ends up having a story of his own. Martha Jefferson was his wife, and when she died (historically accurate), he was so struck by grief that he didn't want to fall in love again. (the wedding ring symbolism) He ends up meeting Alex at the unknown unclear occasion, and they have a one-night stand. Alex is the one who initiates it, and after Thomas realizes he might have broken another heart (just like the one he had), he gives Alex back his post-it note with his number on it (1:54 - notice how the note is from Alex, and yet the person has straight hair), and leaves before morning. Thomas then finds Laurens, and sarcastically (about himself, not Laurens) tells him how to be a heartbreaker, and apologizes for the pain he must have caused. He then shares his own experience, and then they both watch as Alexander marries Eliza (symbolism for them losing him). edit: reads description Oh. Nevermind.

I feel like the story line is that Alex knew Thomas liked him, so he decides to sleep with Thomas and make it seem like Alex loves Thomas too. But Alex cheats the night Thomas was going to propose. So Thomas , not wanting to have John feel used too, tells him the story of what Alex did to him. John believes hin because like a few days later. Alex dumps John because he is marrying Eliza. Did I get that right? Or am I just theories?
