China and the Philippines struck a deal on July 21, 2024, over the Second Thomas Shoal, a reef in the South China Sea that both sides claim. Hours later, the two sides started disputing key details of the agreement, which in theory, would allow Manila to resupply its outpost on the shoal.

Well, the Philippines has the rights to their area. If they follow the parties condition, it is as if they acknowledge the CCP's ownership. I believe the Philippines has the absolute jurisdiction of the area, as acknowledged by court of arbitration and countless nations siding with the Philippines.

China has sticked to 3-point principles for many years. No chance to drop it today. If PH agrees a deal with China, the 3-point principles should be part of the deal. Period.

FYI: The Shoal aleady has concrete structures, this agreement was broken before it was even made, blame the media for reporting earlier construction boats as "fishing boats" 😂😂😂

Philippines claiming a disputed island with a rusty ship is hardly any international order.
  • China's conditions are sort of insult to the Philippines which has the legal rights to the area which is surely unacceptable. The violator of international law (China) and theif is boldly and without shame acting like they owned the area. Naturally, the Philippines rejected such kind of absurd conditions. China has no right to put conditions, only the Philippines has the right to set conditions as that area is within their EEZ. So whatever the Philippines bring there and do to its ship is non of their business.
  • It's over, RIP Philippines, now go back to deal with the fact that 58% of Filipino family recognize themselves poor
  • Carta Hydrographica y Chorographica de las Islas Filipinas (Spanish, lit. "Hydrographical and Chorographical Chart of the Philippine Islands"), more commonly known as the Velarde map, is a map of the Philippines made and first published in Manila in 1734 by the Jesuit cartographer Pedro Murillo Velarde, the engraver Nicolás de la Cruz Bagay, and the artist Francisco Suárez.[2][3] The World Digital Library describes it as the "first and most important scientific map of the Philippines".[4] It is frequently referred to as the "Mother of all Philippine Maps".
  • Marcos should learn from Scott Morisson, who tried to be funny with Australia's largest trading partner. It resulted in recession for the Aussie economy, the first in 30 years
  • I find it funny that this did not make mention of Philippines conditions or who actually broke the deal and started a new sparring match.
  • Let keep in mind small families relies fishing in that area for a living and to feed their family. Even these people they show no mercy. Greedy pigs politicians.
  • China make their own deal... While Philippines don't know about their deal... bcoz there is no agreement between them.
  • What? Ph allowed that the sierra madre be towed away at thomas shoal??? Oh its game over for ph...
  • This is why "dialogue, negotiation & consultation" with China WILL NEVER WORK.

It is Philippines, influenced by the US, who violated other countries territory and undermined regional stability and peace.
