"I've got a stylus in my mouth" "I don't know what to do with that information" Lmao i love this exchange

Such a minute detail but the way that you like INSTANTLY educated yourself on the mouthstick was honestly heartwarming. I personally never heard/knew they existed and I'm sure a whoooole lot of people are in the same boat so kudos to you for not banking on that. Would've been so easy to sensationalize it and make it like some crazy wacky and "lazy" tool as a lot of disability focused products are. It shows a lot of character on your end. Just wanted to say it doesn't go unnoticed!

The Orbit trackball mouse isn't a reinvention of a conventional mouse. The conventional mouse was spawned from trackballs. They are the OG pointer devices, then someone thought of sticking the ball to the bottom and moving the entire device, then someone else replaced the ball with light sensors.

I got that pen mouse and it's perfect for laptops on vacations. I watched YouTube videos while lounging and using my arm as the surface for the mouse and it worked wonderfully. Plus, there's buttons on both sides that function as the right click making it usable for left-handed people as well. The base is a bit cheap though.

Also, the ball mouse has been around for a very, very long time. I had an old logitech one from the early 90's with the red ball. It's literally the same mechanism from the old-school trackball mice, just inverted, enlarged, and made with rubberized rollers instead of using a rubberized ball. They're still plenty neat, though, and there's a small but vocal group of people who swear by them as the utmost in ergonomics. I'm not sure I agree with them, but it's always fun to see that this product has persisted.

we had those exact magnifying glasses at my old job. i used to list car parts on ebay and some of the part numbers were very small / worn out so having those really helped. it was weird seeing the same box and everything lol memories came flooding back

Orbit mouse thingie is not going back to the board and rethinking, but literally going back to the mid 90's and reanimating a failed idea. Logitech famously had a slew of models available troughout whole 90s.

Trackballs have been a niche product since the 90s. It has several advantages over a regular mouse (less wrist movement and way more precise). It's way slower though, and more finicky over large distances.
