Rusty, another manifestation of nature's capriciousness over parts of Jamaica last evening (July 26) maybe a little after 8pm, literally out of nowhere. It was stock still as typical for that time of evening, but the atmosphere seemed to have a strange 'dirty' odour (don't think it was any local pollutant - my bet, Saharan dust), then from zero to (40, 50, 60?) mph in seconds. Maybe lasted 15 minutes then a short burst of rain, then back to calm. What is intriguing is how the dust seems to work so well along with these waves/derechos or whatever it was that hit, similar to what happened one afternoon some weeks ago. Felt like the icing on Beryl's cake!
