Steve W. was certainly setting the stage here for a long, illustrious career. What a voice, and if you hear him 51 years later ( 2017 ) he doesn't sound too much different than he did in '66. Bravo Steve!

As good today as when I first heard it in 1966! Truly classic soul that is ageless.
  • Incredible this as a good as any soul music I ever heard and these dudes are white. Stevie Wynwood fine vocals and guitar work aint bad either on this classic song. This music can make one get emotional in a good way. This is great.

Spencer Davis, the leader of a rock group that had some of the most propulsive and enduring hits of the 1960s, including “Gimme Some Lovin’,” “I’m a Man” and “Keep On Running” – all sung not by him but by a teenage Steve Winwood – died Monday October 19, 2020, in Los Angeles. He was 81. The cause was pneumonia, Bob Birk, his booking agent and friend, said, adding that Davis had been hospitalized for the last week. Davis co-wrote “Gimme Some Lovin’,” his group’s biggest hit. He played rhythm guitar in the band and occasionally sang lead vocals, lending his baritone voice mostly to blues-oriented material and never to the band’s hit singles.

Jeez - no wonder he later sang there must be a higher love - that is some kind of god-given talent

This studiolive was filmed at Yleisradio-studios (Yleisradio: finnish broadcasting company) in Helsinki, Finland. And those subtitles are in finnish.

The great Ray Charles was an influence on many in the British Invasion ,as was Little Richard RIP The Beatles ,as well as Spencer Davis Group were heavily influenced ,and this is a wonderful example. This and Georgia On My Mind. Michael Bolton sounded like he was in more pain than I was when I had back surgery nearly 40 years ago doing Georgia On My Mind.Steve Winwood does not overdo it at all. .
