Before Flying: "What were the Ace Combat devs thinking?" After flying: "AYO WHAT THE FUCK" The Ace Combat devs would be cackling rn
  • @cockylittlefreak
I love the fenrir, is not only a vtol, but also pratically invisible (in the literal sense, it just goes transparent)
  • @alicorn3924
To explain the Fenrir: The weird canopy is actually a set of HD cameras, called the "COFFIN" system, the pod on the lower front houses a High-Powered Laser or a floating signal plasma ball thing that can combust jet fuel with EM signals... it's literally one of the best superfighters in the ace combat series without a doubt.

The purpose of the yaw authority is so you can make high G turns without blacking out or snapping the wings in what is essentially an enormous fighter-bomber, because the Gz is really low. Its also why it has VTOL capability via ducted thrusters beneath its control surfaces, and that third engine in the middle. You were right btw: The front pod is a microwave weapons-system but directly behind it is a fuel tank is because the middle engine can burn as a rocket, meaning if the Fenrir stalls out, its meant to be able to recover energy rapidly enough to have defensive options in energy maneuver doctrine. The fuel actually acts as a coolant for the microwave system, you see and the turbopump loop of the rocket-engine charges the cooling equipment for that beam system, but the actual microwave system is powered remotely by ground stations. I don't think this feature is implemented in this mod however. The aerodynamics are designed to be deliberately "kinda bad" so it can bleed energy without losing aspect, and its meant to cruise at super high altitudes which is why the wing surface is enormous. Deployed appropriately to its designed air battle doctrine, its meant for killing unmanned weapons to defend the microwave meaning ground stations. If you want to see something which pushes this yaw-control capability to a whole new level, look for any Sentou Yousei Yukikaze mods: The Fand II is a hypermaneuverability (yes hyper, not super) fighter designed to exploit this principle to its limit. It has an upper and a lower body which can use a duct to turn that entire gap into a lifting surface, and its all-moving wings can face into a direction of flight. Pilots jokingly refer to it as a crab, because of how much time it spends in side-slip during an engagement. This was a kind of "proof of concept" for another hypermaneuverability fighter, the Mave: The Mave is also designed around an unusual hypermaneuverability concept in that its wings are 2-axis all-moving surfaces. It wasn't originally designed to be manned, and the cockpit-pod is actually mounted to a forward payload space intended for nuclear weaponary and a laser defence system -- with the FRX itself, being designed as a nuclear RAM/AIR nuclear delivery system similar to Con Air's SLAM missile project. Give Sentou Yousei Yukikaze a watch some time. It was made in 2001, but the production values look incredible even by today's standards and its weirdly well researched in its understanding of what fighters can and can't do, because the entire staff went to the JSDF for consultancy. The whole story is a hard SF story written in the 1980's, and forsaw unmanned aerial warfare, hypernormalization as a cultural effect, and the psychological disassociation mass populations experience from distant wars due to the media cycle. Yukikaze is essentially where Ace Combat 3 onwards get most of its ideas: The cockpit of the Fenrir for example is supposed to be an air intake, and the entire cockpit pod is ejectable. That's a nod to both the Mave and the Fand II. Take care.

I see Ace Combat Fenrir in thumbnail, I click
  • @euphoriess
that XFA from AC is sick and I think the "fuel pod" is actually the laser weapon
  • @awesomeness360SP
The XFA-33 Fenrir is one of the most incredible AceCombat super planes ever designed I think. In terms of combat capability, looks, sheer speed, maneuverability, and agility, and the fact that it can actually VTOL in game, I think it can be said that it's the most powerful fictional fighter ever designed for the franchise. Easily one of my favorite aircrafts from AceCombat, too.
  • The bottom pod of the Fenrir housed its Microwave weapon if I remember correctly
  • @somehecucunt3194
The Fenrirs pod is for a energy weapon, a high powered microwave weapon which heats up the fuel and engines of an enemy aircraft until they explode. The cockpit overhang is a cockpit type called COFFIN (Connection for flight interface) which uses cameras and sensors outside to take in data, while inside the pilot has an all around view via screens within Anyway.. FENRIRRRRR!
  • @withoutstickers
Thank you for featuring my design! (blended wing body) Its still a work in progress but I appreciate your feedback, it’s great to see so many other community designs showcased as well.
  • @freddo5677
The ace combat plane has that ''fuel tank'' under its intake for reproducing.
  • Fenrir my beloved. Did you download it from Discord? I may join later if I can grab some fine designs you have featured.
  • @jocax188723
The FENRIR is an apex predator among apex predators in the Ace Combat franchise, so it's one heck of a place to jump in.
  • @milhshake1262
I think you might have not activated the bombs, which is probably why it didn't exploded.
  • @ax90fenrir14
the best part about the fenrir was not the planeo even the missiles, it was the special weapon, bruh the fucking ballistic missile it had was like if a moab would explode mid air
  • @MetalFalcon99
the under slung part on the Fenrir is a housing unit for some mircowave beam ball thing
  • @fcdrummer1806
Parking brake is period if you didn’t change it.Usually 0.5km or slightly less is best to shoot down the target drones with guns.
  • @Attaxalotl
Ah yes, the XFA-33 Fenrir. The invisible VTOL the size of a B-17
