We waited two years to cover Dishonored 2 after covering the first Dishonored, but we waited only three months to cover Dark Souls II after covering the first Dark Souls. In this SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED, we return to the world From Software created and break down an Any% speedrun of Dark Souls II, by world record holder Stennis. This run is on patch 1.02 and features a couple game-breaking glitches and exploits that allow Stennis to beat the game in under 15 minutes. Included in this run is a glitch that allows you to duplicate items, leading to the potential for infinite souls without farming.

You know it’s a good one when the explanation is longer than the run itself
  • "In the corridor behind the door Stennis will knock a painting to the floor for an enemy to pour from where they were stored, and enemies we abhor so Stennis will parrywalk them to pin them to the floor." This was the real mental health boost I needed today.

Hey dude, I just wanted to say that I was going through a pretty rough period when I started going through your video catalogue, and even when I thought the interludes were lame or cheesy, having a voice outside of me that was repeating and reinforcing positive things was unbelievably helpful. I'm doing somewhat better now, and I just wanted to say thank you.
  • 'Logical self' sounds like something a pseudointellectual on Twitter would say. Love the video, keep it up.
  • @spouwnerring
You forgot to mention that unlike all of the other Souls games, Dark Souls 2 is the only game that doesn't give you invinsibility frames when you open doors and the enimies don't return to their spawn location whenever you quit out to the main menu.

It's one thing to be able to speed run using these concepts. It's an entirely different thing altogether to explain the concepts in a logical and concise manner. Good job!
  • The stair jumping reminds me of Mario moving in parallel universes because of the way collision works separately from your character model.

Always good to see an upload from Pipsqueak Johnson.

Best part of these vids is trying to guess where the suicide prevention speech is going to be, always a good time, and much love for it homie
  • @RegoleSlayer
Great work by you and Stennis and thanks for the charity marathon shoutout!

Hey tomato, as someone who has suffered from a serious mental illness for his entire life, I wanted to tell you that your regular support of feelings not being final and your general faith in people is really truly heartwarming. I personally am much better than I used to be, but it resonates with me strongly. Thanks for caring and thanks for saying it, every time. Much love. <3

One thing I love about your videos is learning about all the tricks the developers used to make the game work and the unintended consequences they have on how players can interact with it
  • @KnightOfGwyn
“It’s not exactly known how Bino-boosting works in the game’s code and what-not, it’s just known that it works.” Probably has something to do with the code and the order in which it executes. * rests back comfortably in armchair developer seat *
