The story is about a meeting between a young successful guy and a seemingly ordinary vagrant who claims to be none other than Agasfer - a legendary character who, according to legend, is doomed to wander the earth from century to century until the Second Coming of Christ. Unexpectedly, the vagrant turns out to be quite an interesting interlocutor, and the guy decides to find a weak spot in his seemingly unbelievable story. But it turns out that to do this is not easy at all.

Movie - "Agasfer" (2018)

there actually is a rumour (not in the Bible) that a man (Jew) named Cartopholes was cursed by Jesus on his procession to Calvary. That Jesus stopped to rest and Cartopholes basically told him to stop being lazy and move on, so Jesus said "I'll go, but you must stay until I return" - I always thought that would make a great movie - especially if he changed his name to the Count of St.Germain...

They did this on a $79.99 budget. Imagine if they had Disney production money what they could do. This also exposes Hollywood big time.

I like this kind of movie, really low budget, no big focus on other sets, full of dialog and story, and the overall premise it reminds me of the movie "The Man From Earth"

This reminds me of the Eternal Mercenary stories "Casca" From Wikipedia: "Casca is a series of historical fantasy novels created by author Barry Sadler in 1979. The stories revolve around the exploits of Casca Rufio Longinus, the Roman legionary who drove the Holy Lance into the side of Jesus Christ on Golgotha (the blood and water ran down the spear and made contact with him). As a result of this action, Casca is cursed with immortality, and he is to wander the Earth aimlessly, always as a soldier, until the Second Coming. The character is loosely based on the Longinus legend of Christianity. "
  • What about old Simeon in the Temple at the time of Jesus who was promised by The Holy Spirit that he would not die until he saw the baby Jesus. He then said: "Lord, let now your servant depart in peace--for my eyes have seen the Salvation of the World!" 😊

This is a movie that made me think. I love having conversations with homeless people. The best stories. He cursed himself by saying when you get back you can lean on my house to rest. How many times did we have an interaction with a person and it was one of GOD's angel or a fallen one. I make it a point to look into peoples eyes. Some will bring you chills others will warm your heart.

A very thought-provoking movie. It reminds me of "Man from Earth" from 2007. One of my personal favorites.
  • thanks for sharing this film summary. I look forward to watching the entire movie one day. This was very interesting......
  • This was deep. I like to think deeply. I’d like to see this whole movie. And makes me wonder who was the homeless man? And I also think wow with the twin at the end. Homeless conversations can be interesting. I’ve had a few with them.

"The Man From Earth" did this concept, but SO much better! If you want religious symbolism too, check out "He Never Died", ANOTHER banger.

The channel owner forgot to mention that this movie is Russian, in Russian, and is called "Ahasuerus," In order to see and understand it, you will have to turn on subtitles and select the auto translator...

Back in the early 80's my grandmother told me about this guy. I've often wonder if he's the one so many people have named Bigfoot
