  • I really love "Generator" - it's kind of underrated nowadays.

I've never had a comment on YouTube get so many replies, so thank you to everyone who took the time to do so. I have shared this in a couple of places, back in March when Taylor passed, (and thought long and hard about editing this to share here) but I'd really love if it could somehow reach the band so as to give back some of the love and support their songs gave to me. So here goes... My first daughter was stillborn in 2004, I named her Taylor. The song "Walking After You" pretty much got me through some very, very hard months, years even. I have the lyrics to Learning to Fly, and My Hero on her two memorial plaques at the crematorium. I could go on so much more about other song, and other difficult times in which there was always a Foo's song which got me through. I was fortunate enough to see them live in 2019. It would be really cool to know they know there's a little girl in heaven named Taylor, hopefully hanging out with her namesake. Anyway, if they do stop, I'll be heartbroken, but I'm already feeling that way as nothing and no-one will replace Taylor. I agree with the comment that they didn't sound the same, they never will again, but I did love Travis playing because he's just like Taylor, he throws every atom of his being into drums, and he and Taylor were great friends. ((My original comment below)) I cannot express in words how much I love the Foo's, and I'm very afraid that they might not continue, but I'd understand fully if they don't. Their music got me through many dark times in my life. I owe them a heck of a lot.

And what do you think about the song Rabbit Hole by the band Stoned Hare?
  • Not only the best Foo's song, but one of the best rock songs ever. The multi guitar attack near the end of the song is just fucking face-melting. And I don't care what anyone thinks, but Taylor's drumming on this song is a masterclass of rock drumming; precise, exact and intense...serves the song brilliantly.

Justin. I found this channel because of the first bit you did on Ghost and it’s quickly become my new favorite thing. I loved ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’ when it first came out and I can not believe it’s taken me 20 years to delve into the rest of your catalogue. I’m a complete idiot. It’s everything I like. As penance and abject apology, please take my money. Hayley
  • This Foo album was the first to feature Chris on guitar. It added a lot to the overall sound and dynamic of the band IMO. This song showcases those big dynamic changes in a huge way.
  • I can listen to Justin talk about songwriting all day long!!
  • Holy shit, Justin, you're a dark horse, impressive guitar knowledge, flamenco knowledge, vocal drumming reenactments AND a full song breakdown with gold nuggets of music theory. Bonus points for the silent hole! Mad skills!

One By One is my favourite Foo album. Low is an absolute banger and the video is great.

If I'm not totally mistaken this song (and the whole album) is written after and inspired by Dave's Qotsa drumming session...which is noticable @5:25

6:40 I agree and you can really hear Taylor’s Stewart Copeland influence in fills Ike that. He approaches songs like this in a Copeland-like manner. I love it.
  • @dt3460
I really liked their first album, I think Grohl did all the instruments on it. Exhausted is a fantastic song.
  • “Unabashed ,pure intensity guitar rock song” yep . Can’t wait to see you ROCK tonight at the Forum.
  • @CrzyLaAnd
I’ve read Dave double tracks vocals the old fashioned way and does it in very few takes. He’s very good at matching takes.
  • @clairb
How is this song 20 yrs old! 😱 Absolute timeless classic! The build up, the intensity one of my all time favourite foo tracks! Thanks Justin for your breakdown 🫶🏼

The first time I heard this song, I was driving into London on the Westway and got pulled over for speeding, thanks Dave.😊
