Ms Stent seems to have forgotten that the US has supported every authoritarian government in Latin America for the last 100 years. We supported Mobutu for 30 years in the Congo, two military leaders in Egypt, the Shah in Iran and the list goes on. So, if you want to cast blame for great power support for authoritarian governments, you have to add the US to the list of China and Russia.

Sponsoring the Ukraine coup forced them into action to protect their Crimean naval interests, which we then used as an excuse to force them into the current proxy war.
