  • This is heartbreaking. For people who have lived in Hawaii knows how people who lived there their entire lives are heartbroken if they have to leave
  • Travis isn't an employee, he's the owner/head chef of Bowlz LV lol
  • Vegas can never be compared to Hawaii. You feel the sadness in his voice as he had no choice
  • Born and Raised in Hawaii. We left to the mainland for 8 years but decided to move back so our kids can grow up around family. It's tough but we make it work.
  • I'm one of those from Hawaii who moved go Vegas because of cost of living!! I have family here so it comforted me knowing that I had people I knew before starting a new life here. The weather is not the best at times, but that's all I can complain about. I'm a teacher and the pay here is pretty great for teachers compared to Hawaii. I had to work at least 2 jobs to stay afloat back in the islands. Now I only work 1 job... We may not have beaches, but it is freeing to be able to drive to different surrounding states!! Lots of pros for sure. :) Maui will never be the same with the high cost of living..🥺

I used to live in Hawaii back in the 90s and early 2000s, but after 2007 the economy just went downhill as the prices of living went up. That’s when I moved to Arizona back in 2008 to this day. Best decision ever! I miss the beach life as well, but I’ll take an easy living and affordable life over the beach any day. Life is too short to be all work and no play.
  • Left Hawaii 45 years ago after graduating from the University of Hawaii. Could never find the right "opportunity" to move back, and in the meantime, made a good life working and living in California (met my wife, had two daughters and now 5 grandkids!)! Cost of living in Hawaii was always the problem, even 30-40 years ago, but more so now that the average home price in Honolulu toppled $1,000,000! Unbelievable!! Unfortunately, the average kamaainas, young and old, will be lifelong renters in paradise. 🙁
  • I moved from japan 4 years ago to canada and now im moving back because like everyone says.. its crazy expensive.
  • No longer affordable anywhere in US, they raised minimum wages, but landlords and companies just raised the prices.

They say Lake Mead will reach dead pool by 2025. I think the smart thing to do is get out of Vegas while you can, before you're stuck with a house you can't sell.

That's sad when you think Las Vegas is cheap. The west coast is just stupid expensive.

When he moved to Las Vegas 12 years ago, the homes in Las Vegas were much cheaper. Las Vegas is expensive now!
  • Absolutely disgusting to see cost of living being the reason this is happening.
  • This is not a new trend I moved here from Hawaii in 2008 and when I got here I found out I wasn’t the only one. It never stopped this is the 9th island.
  • Nahh, im good here on the islands, i love it here. Makapuu was so clean the other day and clear as glass. You can’t duplicate the feeling.

Born and raised on Maui. Went to college on Oahu before moving here in 2018. Was able to purchase a brand new home in 2020. My 1 bedroom apartment in Hawaii was $2100/mo plus utilities and $100/mo for a parking stall. My mortgage in Vegas $1700/mo for a 4bed 3bath and a loft. I will never move back to Hawaii.
  • I left rainy, MISERABLE Seattle for Las Vegas. My property taxes went from $13,450 a year, to $4,500 a year!! My HOA went from $3,100 a year, to $1,050 a year. ……NO BRAINER.
  • Moving here will only raise the price of living causing the same problem in Las Vegas it's bad here the home have skyrocketed and they are slowly building more to sell for redicoulse prices in a location that's already In a serious drought they gotta stop the greedy corporations controlling the housing markets if they want this problem resolved
  • @kalkeikuu
I would’ve move to Las Vegas, but whoa that summer heat! No thank you.
