For several seconds, although it feels like a lifetime, you are not able to inhale or exhale, so it is very frightening if you have not been previously warned what to expect. I had it happen to me once in football practice, and a good friend of mine had it happen to him in a game. Frank Gifford, during one of the early Monday Night Football games, described it as "feeling like you are going to die". Or maybe "getting the wind knocked out of you" can also happen in lessor degrees, in which case it might be accurate to say it happened to Caitlin Clark.

Not particularly a fan, but she took a hard shoulder right square in the diaphragm and got the wind knocked out of her. You tough guys take that shot and breathe. You're the pitiful ones.

The guy commentary was tweaking the whole game. He said the player got her sht blocked then he said excuse me her shot blocked. He sounded kinda off to me.
