This is my first impressions of the new release from Deep Purple titled =1. This is a conversation style video also, no snippets or samples of songs (don't want to chance being blocked by YouTube and their copywrite policy). It' just me babbling about music I love. Think of it as a friendly conversation between friends about what they have been listening to and what they think about it. Feel free to join in the conversation with any stories or comments you want to share. If you've had a chance to hear the album, be sure to tell us what you thought of it. Thanks for stopping by.

  • I freakin' love it! It really takes us back to the old sound. Who doesn't love that? I wasn't a huge fan of the Morse era and feel Simon McBride has already contributed so much to their new vibe, or rather brought the old vibe back.

Much better album than whoosh which was like a pop album you couldn’t hear the guitar this is a proper rock album.
  • After one listen I like it., seems like a great follow-up to Whoosh.
  • I really liked your review of this album. I agree about Gillan's voice, l think he sounded pretty good. It sucks he did'nt take care of his voice though. But, he lived the rock and roll life, and like you said, he's almost 80 too. I heard all the songs from another channel and l do really like this album. Peace
  • I like this album he sounds good he almost 80 no one’s voice sound like when they wear in in their 20s it’s called life there still kicking ass I would have been nice if Ritchie Blackmore would’ve been on it, but hey, still kicking butt better than all these other bands out there who suck
  • Having listened to it several times, I give it 3 out of 5. I resisted listening to anything before this. McBried is more of a fit but classic sound of DP? No. 53mins over a 2 disc vinyl at 45rpm? Feels a bit of a rip off. When you consider the last Saxon album, the latest BCC V vinyl, the Scorpions last offering? The track lazy sod (= whitesnake,) sums it up. After all, BCC did 3 sides of new stuff and a 4th of live to fill. Why didn't Purple? Ho, yeah, new live LP incoming. It's got essences of whitesnake, gillan, not a bad thing, but after the first side, portable door, it falls of a bit. Picks up a bit, but I just feel a bit cheated. Most of the songs are too similar, Gillans vocals are talky, Airey is great, Brian does what a former six stringer always said, that less is more, which is why he is a better fit. Well, spunk over it as much as you want but I expected more. Lazy sod will be a crowd fave. Peace out.

Have to say disappointing. Doesn’t hold up to Whoosh which is a much more interesting melodic album
