The Dinner Bell doesn't work; I set it for Robin size, yet a huge ol' noisy magpie managed to hang on upside down and peck at the food!

Are the squares small enough on the first feeder to totally prevent murderous sparrows? While letting in blue birds, finches, chickadee, and tufted T mouse birds? Maybe adding some chrome shiny twisting objects outside the grid would help. Also, is the diameter large enough on the first feeder to prevent wood pecker tongues from grabbing food, or killer starlings that stretch/thin out their necks and reach in?

We love to feed our mourning doves and smaller birds for 20 yrs but, about 4 months ago 2 city pigeons arrived at my neighbor's roof and started to attack the other small birds. What bird feeder do you recommend to keep the mourning doves and smaller birds but keep off the larger pigeon..please help.

The third feeder don’t work with Starlings ...they find a way to not rest on it and feed relentlessly. The dome seems perfect as it might even be a savers for food dropping in the ground and attracting other larger birds. My front yard has become the feeding grounds for just about everything ;) so I think it’s time I invest again into a better feeder and get a cage ! Thank you 🙏🏽

Love that word - the Dinner Bell - unfortunately my (UK) starlings can get in - no matter how low I set it - especially when meal worms are involved. The Guardian cage works beautifully - I sadly forgot the Greater Spotted Woodpecker was using a particular peanut feeder and put it inside the cage ... 😑 - I haven't seen him since 😥

How do these feeders deter rodents coming to get what the birds throw on the ground?

I like the first cage you showed. Can you provide a link to buy it?
  • what is the size holes on the cage ..... there are so many cage feeders out there and have heard some trap the little birds. thanks

The little birds will enter the wire openings?

I have a feeder with the cage and a tube feeder that is open to all birds. I want to stop the pest birds, starlings and the like. I have noticed that Cardinals don't enter the cage feeder and they wait for the pests to leave the tube before feeding. Or they fly to the ground to pick up all the seeds the pests kick out.

How do I keep pest birds off my suet cages? Thank you David

I like your feeder that is weighted to keep larger birds off. I also have a double suet feeder with cage around it similar to your keeps starlings mostly off it, but house sparrows will flock to it and wipe it rather quickly. I am not fond of either of these birds as I originally got the double suet cage for downy woodpeckers. I even made an upside down feeder but the starlings would still hang from it and wipe it out not allowing woodys to get to it. So Im now going to attempt to make a new batch of suet with a lot of safflower seed in it hoping to deter the house sparrows knowing most birds dont care for it because of the bitter taste.

House sparrows are the number one invasive and pest bird in my area. Is there a bird feeder that can deter them but will allow house finches to eat? Right now, I only feed thistle seed in a special small hole feeder and striped sunflower seeds in a regular feeder.

You might get a kick out of my sparrow-proof mealworm feeder I designed and crafted that's shown on a video on my channel. It took a lot of trial and error and time to come up with a design that excludes them at the mealworm feeder. Around the 3 minute and 20 second mark or so in the video, a Carolina Wren shows the male house sparrow in the video how to retrieve a mealworm from the feeder.

I enjoy my birdfeeder. I have a 5 ft Angel hook that has been knocked half over. I must move the hook. How do I get it out of the ground w/o a shovel. I rent my home, no digging😳
