This is a take on my other video some people were asking how it was put together, here are a few picture of the process, probably not enough to educate yourself on how to do one, but it may be helpful to show my process. for a link about patterns check out www.sengokudaimyo.com/katchu/katchu.html

  • yeah, that's exactly what I used it for. I found a lamp shade that was the same size that I wanted the shikoro to be. I wrapped the lampshade in a large piece of paper, and drew horizontal lines around it., then cut them out and used them as templates. It made it A LOT easier.
  • Awesome job. I found ur vid after looking for other crafters who make samurai armor. I made one myself out of big pvc pipes during the quarantine, turned out nice, and cheaper materialwise.
  • just got a generic spool of shoe lace material. It worked for me just fine. That was a lot of the fun of the project was finding materials that were close enough to what I was looking for.
  • Great video and amazing job on crafting your armor. It is very time consuming and we know how difficult it is and even more so when you make all the parts yourself. It is nice to see the passion of the samurai craftsmen is alive inside you!
  • this in the corner of ur room is like seeing the stormtrooper in Barney Stinsom's apartment... just from these videos it looks so incredibly meticulously made. great admiration for your craft
  • @grumbeard
A wonderful piece of home made craftsmanship. Awesome. I might use your idea to create my mycenaean armor.
  • @Nulli_Cedo
Pure craftsmanship. Looking forward to your future craft.
  • Yes it is essentially shoe string. It gives a better vertical hold of the material and I personally think it looks a lot 'cleaner' than para cord or nylon cord of any type would look. Thanks!
  • @ninjaboyhiggins "not sure i'll be in the mood to do another one for quite a while haha."... welcome to the world of armoring!! i have to say you did an amazing job on this. i make germano-norse armor and i can testify to the absurd amount of manhours involved but it's SO worth it.
  • @Bigfoot109
Fantastic effort, your samurai armor is unbelievable some of the neatest detailed work ive seen in a homemade project, my congratulations to you my friend...
  • WOW!! Your attention to detail is amazing. I would have loved to seen some pic of you working on it. Great Job.
  • 100% correct. In my description I mention that. I used this one in the video because it was the only piece I had not made yet. I later made my own.
  • @FeralColin
Mempo is probably part of a 300 movie mask, the Persian immortals wore masks that resembled mempo.
  • thanks a ton! I hope you do make one, you'll feel good that you did. I got the plastic from a local industrial plastic distributor called idaho falls plastics. I've just recently bought another 4x8' sheet here in little rock. don't have it shipped, it super expensive. I had to travel a few miles, but you can usually find it pretty close. Good luck!
  • Very top your armor, congratulations on the build. I want to develop an armor for myself, some parts to have in the airsoft loadout
  • haha. Thanks man. The material came black, but I also hit it with paint as well. It doesn't show in the video all that well but some of the paint is flat black and other is glossy. Good luck, let me know how yours turns out!
