  • China focus on people development, prosperity. China tighten country security and territory integrity. China fortified military strength.
  • China is adept at coping with challenges as they arise as has been proven time and time again.

God she is so so painfully elegantly beautiful:)

Thank you Dr Jin for the comprehensive and balanced review on the China economy. I wish I had Dr Jin as my professor as I enjoyed the 30+ minutes speech very much. In my school day, my professors were all very boring and lack of communications skills, so I fell asleep quickly. LSE students are so lucky!

I am glad Dr. Keyu Jin is a Professor of Economics. She apparently understands economies at such a fundamental level (which obviously she should) and is a talented and wise communicator that she is smart enough not to throw complex academic concepts into a discussion that does not require it. If rural China has such a massive 800 million people potential that is not being adequately tapped, but only 600 million urban dwellers, it means that China can continue to advance radiply as those rural people are trained and brought into the mainstream. Obviously not including children, the disabled, and the elderly.

A balanced, thoughtful analysis. Keyu has been consistent in demanding more stimulus from the Chinese Govt except this time she's taken a softer stance in siding with the rentiers and financiers, and acknowledged that the unbeaten, potentially treacherous path China is taking is a necessary one as the western model is proving to be a dead-end and leading to feudalism. As an aside, I never thought about it this way but the trade war and sanctions that force Chinese companies to setup overseas are inadvertently forcing them to learn how to become MNCs.

Is it worth monetising videos on this channel? Much nicer viewing experience without ads!

Dr. Jin’s presentation on China is very good but… In what context do you define China’s economic downturn if we can even say there is one based on China’s governence model (misunderstood in the West) and “on-a-dime” economic and geopolitical moves to protect it from US and Western imperialism, economic weaponization, and militarization? She portrays China primarily by the Western (predominately US) economic rules based order created without any involvement from China and other Asian countries to the extent that the US purposely blocks China’s rights in setting policy under the mandates of the WTO, and IMF. The China she “visions” is the China primarily BEFORE the hostile actions by the US, West, NATO who are accelerating aggression as a byproduct of Russia beating, and militarily winning (>95%) the US/NATO Proxy War in Ukraine. Russia’s geoeconomic, and geopolitical position plays an important role in China’s current economic and strategic moves. As an outcome of US/EU/UK sanctions/hostiles toward Russia its economy is now ranked #4 in the world by GNP defined by PPP! #1 in the EU! Her discussions on local governance innovation and the “movement” West of economic development is not quite on target. It’s much more dynamic, and statistic’s show economic development in the “West” is greater than China’s “near-and-off-shoring” to overcome tariffs and sanctions. For example by transportation infrastructures, new trade corridors, trade zones, from Chongqing, Kunming, etc. into SE ASIA, EURASIA, and other locations. I wish she discussed: The importance of education and academic excellence, with the most recent research documenting China now outdistancing the West. The Multipolar World, Global Majority - Development of a new economic order inc. BRICS, BRI, SCO, others. How could we have gotten a more rounded “real time” snapshot on China’s current conditions? The content of the program would have been very different if it was presented by a China scholar/expert in China who was intimately connected with the government, and their domestic, geoeconomic, and geopolitical development within the context of a MULTIPOLAR WORLD, and China as a member of the GLOBAL MAJORITY. Until we have Chinese experts from China on board we will never achieve a “correct” understating of the country. ————— RECOMMENDED CHINA ECONOMIC - POLICY RESOURCE A Hidden China “Gem” Resource This is for the China academic, researcher, analyst, policy maker, “watcher”, and other interested China folk. I would like to suggest a “hidden gem” resource on China’s development addressing current topics and issues and how they directly impact the economies of the US and inclusive-West. The commentator has addressed most topics discussed in this program with actual U.S. China economic policy, there implications, and includes supporting data. You have to watch several of Mr. Kevin Walmsley’s “Inside China Business” YouTube channel (produced in China) programs to appreciate his uncanny ability to address and dissect topics in “point blank”ways that even the most educated Sinologist, academic, geopolitical and economic experts either don’t understand or cannot explain in ways that translates into understandable language to policy makers and the general public. His work has “absolute, concrete” policy applications. In addition he alawys provides supporting data and citations that are essential for professionals, academics, and geopolitical nerds working in the field or who have an interest in China. There is no other resource in alternative media, or for that matter provided by University China Policy Centers/Think Tanks quite like this. Link to his home page: Inside China Business - youtube.com/@Inside_China_Business/videos Here is one example of his work on a topic even the best experts have never been able to define and quantify. :-) ————— THE MODEL FOR CHINA’S SUCCESS The following program on China is ESSENTIAL to help understand its society and how its achievements are a function of its roots as an ancient Civilization State “technocracy”. It is one of the best educational pieces on China wrapped up in a few minutes I’ve seen. Can’t think of any analyst, professor who could pull this off so distinctly, and in such a condensed program. Kevin Walmsley of Inside China Business (Subscribe, YouTube) provides a superlative analysis on the methodology China uses to achieve the best in almost every industry and discipline. China has become a realtime model of “societal exceptualism” like we have never seen in world history. This one is on nuclear energy, but it applies across the board. “How China leaped 15 years ahead of the world in nuclear power: the same way as in everything else” Kevin Walmsley, Inside China Business, June 19, 2024 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wShNPV-Yjbs ————— DESCRIPTION China is now without peer in the nuclear power generation industry, after employing a “whole-of-government” strategy, vast financing at low cost, supply chain dominance, and coordination of university research. This from a comprehensive analysis of China's rise in nuclear power, from a non-entity just 30 years ago to the undisputed world leader, and now about 15 years ahead of the United States and Europe. The same strategies and efforts that China used to dominate nuclear power is identical to the ones used in dozens of other industries, and with the same results.
