In “My Father, My Brother and Me,” a FRONTLINE and ITVS joint production, Iverson set off on a personal journey to explore the scientific, ethical and political debates that surround Parkinson’s, a disease at the center of a controversy over embryonic stem cell research. Iverson talked to scientists working towards new cures and therapies for Parkinson’s as well as a number of other major neurological conditions. He also had intimate conversations with fellow Parkinson’s sufferers like actor Michael J. Fox and writer Michael Kinsley.

My grandfather had Parkinsons. He used to love reading, but couldn't hold a book or the newspaper still enough to read. He would walk laps around a tree in his yard, in fact, he did it so much he wore a trench several inches deep around that tree, and when he couldn't walk outside anymore he walked laps around the kitchen table.

“You realise that the timetable is not the same”…. That statement hit me real hard…..one is lucky if this realisation hits them early and they make the most of life with everyone and everything dear to them….that is all that really matters….this is a wonderful yet tragic story…these personal PBS docs are always my favourites…. Michael J Fox has and will continue to be an inspiration along with all the other colourful and brave people that were a part of this doc….
  • Parkinson's took my best human friend 12/23/13. He was a hard worker before and during Parkinson's disease. Hugs, prayers to all.

Michael J Fox has done so much for this deadly disease. When he informed everyone he had the horrific disease, my grandmother had just died from it. I was so scared for him and my mother and siblings.

Thanks for the inspiration to live better in my next 40 years.
  • My dad had it, my sister has it and I'm 68 yrs old and don't have it. I don't eat corn, it gives me severe joint pain within hours. I don't eat bread, it screws up my digestion system, I do take B complex and B-1 twice per day.

Lost my mom almost 5 years ago to a 22 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. It’s a horrible disease.
  • I couldn’t stop my tears when I see Peter , this was so promising and beautiful.. Am gonna share this video to one of my dear friend , whom her husband also has Parkinson . Knowledge is key , sharing is caring . Beautiful documentary ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾

Thank you for all you do at frontline. The best journalist are on PBS 😊
  • My father recently died of Parkinsons disease. When I saw Peter Sauer's dramatic results I couldn't help but cry. Its unfortunate about the other transplant recipients who had a different procedure. We gain knowledge through our mistakes just as much or more than we do our successes though. I sincerely hope that scientists continue to make progress. Regardless of if its by leaps and bounds or baby steps. Whats important is forward progression towards a cure.
  • There are people like Michael J Fox that got diagnosed for 30 years and modern medicine have kept him going before the disease took over. For Michael he is nearly at the end stage. He can't act anymore but was recently at a Comic Con convention in Philadelphia. Either way, it's a terrible disease that takes away everything eventually.
  • How wonderful to watch Frontline, even a long way away, from where it's made.
  • Living with parkinson's disease is no easy thing at all. And I consider myself very fortunate that I don't have the disease at all but I have a friend of mine who has a dad that has parkinson's disease and every now and then when I see him and his dad who struggles with the disease, I become very concerned about his dad and I always hope that there'll be cure for his dad. And I also learned that Michael J Fox also struggles with the same disease and even Saint John Paul II had it. But despite him having it, he didn't let the disease get the best of him. And what gave gave him comfort and hope was the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As for my friend's dad who continues struggles with the disease, well I sincere hope that nothing worse will happen and hopefully there'll be miracle and a cure for his dad and the same thing for Michael J. Fox.
  • This touched me . I know Parkinsons all to well . My mom, God mother and uncle ( all siblings) all had Parkinsons ,all diagnosed before 50.(Drs believe it was possible environmental , they are unsure) My mom lost her 15 year courageous battle in 2019. My heart goes out to anyone who suffers from this nightmare of a disease as well as the caretakers. May Dr etct soon find a cure . I am glad shows like this are creating awareness.
