Welcome back to Autodale, children. Today's programming is nearly done, which means it is time for bed. But sadly, not all dreams are sweet, some are scary and full of monsters. If any night terrors haunt your sleep, children; always remember that you're safe in Autodale. There are no monsters here.
This film is a sequel to my recent animated short "Being Pretty". That being said, I did try to make this work as a stand-alone story.
This short was a massive undertaking. It was fun and horrible to work on. I put more hours into this short than any of my other animations (Besides Parallel). I put more detail into the backdrops, pictures and animation than I ever have before. I think this short broke me mentally. That being said; I think it may have some of the best imagery I've ever created.

“idk mom, maybe i’m scared of the giant electric death tower outside my window”

Oh my gosh, it took me a moment to realize she was labeled “exceptional” because she was smart enough to realize that something was off in the first place... and to try and escape the order.

"We're safe here" is the scariest thing ever said in autodale.

That last sentence the mom said: "You won't run from your monster, will you sweetie?" This might show that some adults actually know that they are in a Dystopia, but that they are already brainwashed to the point of not caring, or they are insane enough to support it.

The new one explains why the uglies were snitches- they aren’t killed as an execution, they see it as a peaceful death. Someone escaping would hurt their peaceful death, their children’s.

When I saw the people labeled ‘Ugly’ start pointing, I found the idea fascinating. These people support their society, even as they are actively being rejected by it

the reason why she's exceptional is because she knew something was wrong with the city ever since she was child. She's hooked up to the core of the AI to generate ideas of supporting Autodale.

The sad truth is that everyone’s going to the ugly pit. The only perfect ones are the robots.

i love that she was labeled “exceptional” because she was smart enough to break the system. they needed her brains and her smarts. instead of killing her, they made her a part of the “model citizen” society, and she’s now a part of controlling it. i love this story so much

"She was smart and pretty..." Me: oh. Oh no.

The fact that the mother isn’t reading what’s on the pages is horrifying. It’s the key to manipulation when you can make someone think that they’re safe

That part where they said “there are no monsters in Autodale” and then showed the line of people waiting for their turn to be killed by the robots and then showed whatever demon from hell the giant thing in the tower was. Gah! Chills. Literal chills. These videos are so well made

it took me a solid ten minutes to realize the grown up girl who got "harvested" was the girl from the story

Plot twist: The “monster” was trying to save her from this place and they knew and killed the monster.

"There are no monsters, not in Autodale." Because where everyone's one, there is no one to point to.

I love that she became part of the system only because she was smart enough to break it, they needed to figure out their holes so they added her to the collection

This episode is much more chilling when you realize the Girl has been making friends with the Freaks, and she's not scared of them, she's scared of the monsters inside the walls. The handyman and her parents

Uglies die. Pretties live. But if you're truly beautiful? You get the short end of the stick and become half a human and get plugged into a machine and share a heart with a few others. Good to know!

I love how, in this, it’s described that there are no monsters in Autodale. Yet in Friendly Shadow, it’s clearly presented that the freaks see most autodale citizens as monsters.
