BEST A7IV lens Sony 24-105mm f4

arguably the sony 24-105mm f4 is probably the best all rounder lens for the sony a7iv. This lens is a brilliant lens with great sharpness, chromatic abberration, focus speed, focal range, aperture and price. With the amazing versatility of the wide 24mm to the telephoto 105mm, this lens will pair perfectly with the new sony a7iv.
The optical steady shot is a great feature in the sony 24-105mm lens. Having stability in the lens pairs very well with the sony sensor. The internal active steady shot also works well as shown in the stability testing

I have owned this lens since it was introduced and agree with your review. Sharp, Clean, Fast, and OSS Stable. I initially bought it to cover the 35, 55, and 85 mm ranges in one lens, and this one did what was expected. F4. is the new f2.8 with the Sony cameras available, and the ability to gather light. This lens has also never let me down when doing portraits, Real Estate, and other requirements. Once you mount this lens, it is unlikely you will swap it out much! Oh, and this is NOT a kit lens in any way.

If I keep watching your channel I will be a sony Expert and I don't even have one lol

Fine video! I agree. I have had the 24-105 since I moved to Sony mirrorless in 2018 and it's my go-to lens for so many scenarios. Plus, given the impressive low-light performance of my Sony A7Siii and FX3, I don't suffer much (if at all) having to use a higher ISO (because of the f4). You're right, for the price and the performance, it gets the job done.

I freaking love this lens for weddings! So incredibly versatile & it flairs perfectly.

Such a great lens. I do see the edge sharpness in your stability test. Can tell the softness. Almost looks vintage. Love it
  • @mellie2003
Nice comparison footages, thanks for that!

Thanks for sharing. I have the 20mm 1.8 for vlogging, this might be the zoom addition I need :)
  • @vi-dor
Thank you Jason for making another great video! I'm dreaming soooo much on GM 2.8 Version with this focal range and must OSS! I'm looking forward for sure like many other....

  • Thank you so much for this video. I have the Sony a7iv and have been using it for a couple months. It’s the first camera I’ve ever purchased. Ive been using the lens that came with it and now just purchased this one! Super excited to have my first real lens. Keep being great brother

A video comparing this with the Sigma 24-70 would be useful.

This is the first lens I purchase after buying my Sony A7 with a the 28-70 F3.5-5.6. So far I am loving it
  • @fshirata
I really enjoy your content Jason! Keep up the good work! Did you have the chance to try the Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 ? I’d love to hear your thoughts and how it compares to this Sony 24-105 f/4 G

Great video! I do have this lens, and one comment -- I would no way put this in the kit lens category; the build quality is phenomenal, overall image sharpness is fantastic, has a fixed aperture, that original price point! Literally the only thing I don't love is its low light performance (on my A73, soon to be upgraded!), but I really only notice it on low light video, not low light photography. I agree - I wish they'd re-make this at 2.8, or even make a GM version of it, because then it'd be unstoppable. Thanks for the review, and glad you're seeing great results paired with the A74 (including the image stabilization differences -- thanks for covering that!).
