Mile-Long Waves on the Amazon River With Dylan Graves

Dylan’s been upriver before, but he’s never faced the mighty Amazon River, its tributaries, and its infamous tidal bore known as the Pororoca. One hundred miles from the nearest coast, the team connects with Serginho Laus, a champion tidal bore rider, who has access to the Pororoca’s seemingly most vital piece of equipment: a jetski. Serginho once rode the Pororoca for 34 minutes without stopping, but he’s still super frothy about the experience — which is just as well, because it turns out this river is harder to dial in than it seems. And when the crew come upon a pack of even more stoked locals even further upriver, it also turns out, you don’t really need a jetski to have fun with this beast.

This episode really hits on every level of Weird Waves. Love the quote “this is confirmation that surfing only gets cooler the further you are away from the ocean” epic work 👏
  • My favorite surf series, you will always be welcome here in Brazil Dylan! This episode was just amazing!

Dylan, I am speachless about the content, your poetic narration, the visuals, even with the funny features, the window that you open for others to see another culture that is far away from the ocean, the editing, in my mind the whole series is an Oscar winner!!!
  • What's up with the Capybara? Half way through the video and I'm bewildered 😂
  • @MC-jx7ij
Thanks Dylan, this was great. Seeing the contrast of surf cultures between different countries is always amazing. Would love to see a series of you chasing swells between all of the Caribbean islands(Cuba, DR, Haiti, PR, smaller antilles) and compare their cultures. Much love as always
  • You were looking for waves and you found real surfers. Epic 🤙🏽
  • @ODL957
Dylan and Surline, thank you for putting out great content, educational and fun!!!
  • A season of weird waves never disappoints. Thank you for sharing the quality waves with us! The only thing better than the weird waves are the weirdos who ride them 🤙🧡
  • This makes me so happy, great video 🙌 love seeing the joy that surfing can bring so far from the coast! ❤️
  • Every season finale makes my eyes watery man! Keep the vibes going Dylan, always! Much love from Brasil
