A man suffering from Parkinson's disease was housebound, barely able to function. Then, a surgical treatment performed by Dr. Ali Rezai, which implanted electrodes in his brain, transformed his life, Morley Safer reported in 2002. This Sunday, 60 Minutes looks at Dr. Rezai's new approaches to treating Alzheimer's and addiction.

"60 Minutes" is the most successful television broadcast in history. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast began in 1968 and is still a hit, over 50 seasons later, regularly making Nielsen's Top 10.

I was diagnosed with Parkinson's about ten years ago & I to started isolating my self to avoid the stares. After having DBS in February I feel great & I'd like to thank all the doctors at the University of Maryland medical Center in Baltimore Md

What a fantastic story!! Praise God for those who study to help others improve their life. What a TRUE BLESSING 🙌
  • This is incredibly good news! And I need to comment that there’s a great interview on YouTube of a PD patient, an older guy who had advanced problems bc of the disease, after many years, he was declining a lot. So he went on a keto diet, as an experiment, and found that he got better and better, and better, reversing the neurological damage, and is now 90 or 95% improved!!!. It’s very very hopeful news! And I hope every person who is suffering w/ PD finds the story on YT.

Tremendous! This is so inspiring. Remarkable results to bring back the quality of life. My father died with Parkinson's, among other illnesses, in 2003. I only wish this could have been available to him.
  • For those of you wondering. Del Maxson died January 25, 2015 at the age of 68 from a “lengthy illness”. There’s no mention of Parkinson’s in his obituary. Also the family “request memorial donations be made to a canine rescue and humane society.” Maybe I’m just reading too much into this but if this was such a great thing for him and his family don’t you think it would have been mentioned in the obituary and donations be made to medical “stuff”? Again I’m probably reading too much into it…. This is just sad though. I really want to believe this worked for him.
