  • Her father just wanted a night to try to find a new lover and ended up coming home to realization he had lost the love of his life. I hope he feels the love we are all sending him
  • The sadness that hit me when you said “and he realised he’d left the door unlocked” because he really was a perfect dad, perfect dad any little girl could have asked for and he sounds like he truly loves her, i cannot image the way he must feel or what he must be thinking knowing he left the door unlocked

The grandpa was treated so badly bc of NOT CRYING When my grandma died, my mom was silent and frozen, I was screaming, my sister was crying, my other sister was calm, my dad was softly crying. We all had different reactions. Just because you don’t cry, doesn’t mean you are guilty.
  • ah yes, another episode of “the police don’t know what they’re doing”
  • @emx8
i feel terrible for the dad :( it sounds like they had such a close bond, i hope he doesn’t blame himself

i really love how in-depth eleanor goes when talking about jessies personality and relationships with her family. i feel that all too often a victim is almost just a number, but eleanor does an amazing job at humanising the people she talks about and letting their positive traits and the things they loved be the biggest part of the story

Honestly they should just issue Amber Alerts when a kid is missing period. That first 24 hours is the most crucial even if a kid hasn't been abducted. Sure they might not have started out as a kidnapping/murder but they could easily end up that way.

"Police need to keep tabs on these people [sex offenders], because they're dangerous people" It would probably be so much easier to do IF THEY WERE KEPT IN PRISON. I'm sorry, but this shit just never ceases to enrage me

Mark is a wonderful man. I have had the privilege of talking to him and telling him how amazing of a father he is. He really loves his children and said he would never get over losing Jessie. He is such a strong, admirable man!!! Please be respectful if you reach out to him. Hes so sweet.
  • Being a daddy’s girl myself, my heart hurts so much hearing about her dad sobbing 😭
  • @rossvegas1346
It’s worth noting that a lot of older men have difficulties expressing vulnerability. A lot of men and boys raised decades ago were raised to not cry or show emotion. I’ve known many older men who just straight up do not cry no matter what.

heartbroken at how the police handled the case at first by torturing jessica’s dad and grandad, i can’t even begin to imagine how devastated they would’ve been :(
  • @abra322
he sounds like the absolute most amazing dad out there.
  • @hnichole
"If you had to get an education to do this, then your money was wasted." The grandfather was really just over here calling the police out. 😭 I understand why the police questioned Mark and Archie first, because oftentimes it is a family member, but the way they ONLY looked at those two for so long and didn't bother to broaden their search when nothing suspicious turned up is really sad for Jessica. May she rest in peace.

Imagine having seven miscarriages and then your final first conceived child is murdered, I can’t even. My love goes out to any one who has had to deal with that, miscarriages and losing children in general.
  • @Megabot-bo9ve
The love she has with her father just touches my heart
  • @Tatertottt
Gosh, I'm so in love with how Eleanor tells these cases. She isn't creepily obsessed with the killer or murders/kidnappings/whatever as someone would expect, and she's so kind and respectful. Plus she tells the stories so well, I can almost imagine knowing the victims, which just increases my empathy even more. Then there's the fact that these stories are being told at all. It makes me feel better knowing that people won't be forgotten, even if they're never found.
  • Did anybody else burst into tears once Eleanor said the part about Jessie saying “I love you this 🤏 much, because nothing can come between us”? 😭😭💔😭😭💔😭😭
  • @fitpotato_5527
Your intro to Jessica and her relationship with her dad and family was so touching.
