    The proposed left-wing of the elder Pitt whig's also adopted the terminology of their isle counterparts specifically through the emphasis as a party of patriots, namely patriarchs of production or ownership. The quote "tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants" was concerned with how best to export the colonial model for the [european] continent, as Jefferson was talking, at the time, about the Dutch republican rebels in opposition to monarchy, not Americans.
