What's it like to feel like a foreigner in a country you were born and raised in? Aju was born in Tokyo to a father from the Bahama's and a mother from Japan. She has spent almost all of her life in Japan and speaks native Japanese, but struggles to talk to other Japanese people. Why won't Japan accept mixed-race people?

No way!!! Is that Aju? One of the kindest Japanese woman I have met during my travels in Japan. I met her last year at Weerasakrack Muay Thai gym in Tokyo, September 2023 during our Muay Thai training session and she acted as a translator for me to a tradesperson working at the gym which then led onto having a really great unforgettable conversation with her before I had to dash to DisneySea. I was thinking about her before YouTube algorithm recommended me this videos and instantly recognised her on the thumbnail. If you're are reading this Aju, many greetings from your Australian friend, Z

I’m a man and the first thing that came to mind when I heard her say she’s never dated, was she needs to relocate. As beautiful as she is, she’s not benefiting by staying where she’s at. I hope that this girl has the ability to travel the world, so she can move past this stigma she’s stuck in. She’s so forgiving and understanding towards the constant harassment she’s endured, and clearly she’s adapted some good life skills that are influenced of decorum and huge respect towards others.

She broke my heart when she said she has never been in a relationship 😢 She is such a pretty girl with a great heart. Thank you for doing this interview and giving her a platform to express her feelings ❤

As anothe half Japanese raised in Japan, I never ever want to move back. It was hard watching this, but thank you for filming and being so vulnerable! Loved the video.

It must be so hard to have to deal with that from everyone she meets, but she handles it so gracefully.

    このvideoのおかげで知見が広がりました!人を見た目だけで判断しないこと、自分のふるまいに一層気をつけなければいけないなと思いました!

The young woman, who looks more Japanese than the other, is asked where she's from while the other is complimented on her ability to speak the Japanese language. Wow!
  • @KimomoDragon
There seems to be a deep sadness in this beautiful girl. 🥺
  • This girl looks like a strong tuff baddie from a cool anime. So yeah. They're blind!!! You're stunning <3

Greetings to Aju! I haven't been in Japan since 1983, but what caught me off guard is when I was in Tokyo (back then) and saw signs at the entrance of some clubs (or bars) that said "Japanese Only". I can't imagine what you went through being raised there, but I hope the day can come when we can focus on what we have in common than what makes us different. You're beautiful! Keep your head up and stay strong. Loved the video!

My kids who are mixed. Half Japanese half white Italian and they don’t have that much trouble with racism. They told me that there’s a big difference between the way they’re treated and the way their friends who are half black or half other Asian country. For older Japanese skin color seems to be a major factor for them to look down upon or think of them as not being Japanese. I guess also it’s the fact that they’re boys so they’ll talk back very quickly to anyone who steps out a line with them. I’m not saying there are mixed females that don’t do that but it could also play a major factor in the situation. That and my boys are actually pretty tall.

She's gorgeous - to be honest: she looks like a Hawaiian princess to me! She might get along with the Hawaiians much better, plus there are a lot of Japanese people also, so she has both cultures in one place.....😉💜✌️
  • @donl1846
I really like how she handles the situation. Especially when she mention at the end of the day its about "loving yourself"....well said !
  • You know I am Japanese living in the US for more than 50yrs and at first I tried to become like them to fit in but it was just not going to happen so I learned to accept who I am and be myself. if you are confident in who you are and love yourself most of all ppl around you will accept you as well...praying for you and best wish!!!!! :))
  • Aju seems adorable, I hope when she’s ready she meets someone who loves her for her as she’s awesome, she’s so pretty, well mannered and seems like she has a positive outlook on life, I bet she’d be a great person to hang out with x
  • She is such a kind hearted woman and appears to be so caring and it's sad to hear what she's gone through and still goes through I'm sure there are plenty of good men interested in her (Myself included) That would love to be in a relationship with her. Keep both of your heads up and know that nothing is impossible when you have brains, beauty, and the heart that both of you have. 💯

SHE IS STUNNING! They don't know what they're missing out on!

I'm from the England and my wife is Japanese. Our daughter was born and raised in Nagoya but fate would have it she looks completely English, hardly asian looking at all. When I pick her up from school, kids and parents often refer to her as 'Gaikokujin' (foreigner) and I tell them them she was born in the hospital down the road and has lived here all her life. My daughter knows she looks different but doesn't really understand why they say that about her. She gets embarrassed a lot because in reality, after living in Japan for all 6 years of her life, she's way more Japanese than English. But for some reason, if you don't look Japanese, you will always be seen as a foreigner in Japan.
