  • I feel like modern Christmas has become exhausting with the non-stop upbeat songs and people rushing to buy everything they can possibly afford. I've always preferred the calm, quiet, and most importantly comfortable feeling that Christmas brings. And this playlist was the perfect embodiment of that 💚
  • @blisss3333
I feel like as a kid, harry potter especially made me love the 'darker', moody type of christmas where everything's rly intimate & calm - more than than the popularized gift-haul, colorful pop song christmas that goes away after a day
  • @scarlett9667
this is the kind of Christmas i love. my family calls me scrooge because they think I don't like Christmas, I do like Christmas I actually love Christmas, I just don't like the same capitalized Christmas media that u see and hear over and over that is mostly aimed towards young children. Like the movie Elf is funny, but that kind of stuff gets old wayyyy too quickly. I just like the regular classic festivities, it doesn't have to be religious, all I care about is the decorations, the food, the weather, and just classic Christmas stuff.

the way my judgmental ass snickered upon seeing this recommended to me. i thought, "a dark academia christmas playlist? y'all are getting outta hand with your aesthetic obsession!" and then i clicked on it and realized you knew exactly what you were doing with this. i now know what a dark academia christmas sounds like, and i'm better for it!

I think I've found my people in this comment section; people who like Christmas in a quiet sort of way. One day I'd like to spend Christmas watching the moonlight glitter on the snow or in a dark chilly room lit only by a Christmas tree, just taking some time to reflect on what Christmas really means. Go to an upbeat playlist and you get a bunch of upbeat people, and that's great for a quick mood boost. Sometimes it feels like so many people criticize this season that it can be kinda hard to get into it. But this playlist gives me the perfect sense of calm reflection that I think I've needed. Really a shame that I found this at midnight on Christmas Day, but you can bet I'll save this and be back next year. Merry Christmas everyone

I had a difficult day at the university, I defended my term paper, asked a lot of homework, and immediately after pairs I sat down to write an essay. But this playlist took me to another world. The world of kindness, comfort, happiness and ... New Year! And suddenly there was a desire and motivation to finally finish all this work. All kindness and love!)
  • I can't possibly explain how the first song made me feel. I've always had some sort of indescribable attachment to the song Carol of the Bells, there was always just something about the melody that drew me in. And this is absolutely the most magical version of the song I've ever heard. Thank you so much.
  • @Dina4444.
I've always liked the idea of a victorian/gothic Christmas. Like the ones in classic literature books. I feel like this video appeals to that idea.

This hits different sitting in my beanbag on Christmas reading an accidentally stolen copy of "a Christmas Carol" from English class. The smell of old books and warm candles is overwhelming...
  • POV: It was the late 1800s, in a handsome, somewhat small manor several miles into the country, although reasonably near London. All the drab ground was blanketed, shimmering white in the cold sunlight. You could glimpse candle's flickering lights in the windows of all the houses. The wooden siding was steeped in drifts of snow. Wreaths hung colorfully upon wooden doors, accompanied by dagger-like icicles dangling from the porch's roof. It was Christmas evening. The stars twinkled merrily in the inky black sky. Tonight was your family's Christmas ball. "Hold still!" Your maid snapped. The corset sunk deeper into your skin, robbing you of the little breath you had left. You gasped and your finger nails dug into the wood. "This is ridiculous." You mumbled rebelliously, straining to breath. "What was that?" She demanded. "Nothing." Finally, she was satisfied. You took care not to breath deeply. She slipped a ball gown over your head, and began on your hair. Pulling it back into a fashionable bun, with several glossy brown curls framing your pale face, she stepped back to survey. "You'll do." She informed you. You stepped in front of the mirror to decide for yourself. Your freckles were powdered almost entirely away. Your wild hair had been attacked and tamed by the wet comb. a string of elegant white pearls draped your neck. Your dress was so long it trailed along the floor slightly. It was almost completely a bright scarlet, with the exception of an emerald green sash tied around your waist. Along the hem of the neck, the sleeves, and the skirt were embroidered red roses with green leaves. Your lips had somehow been transformed to cherry red. Your hazel eyes sparkled. You grinned at the sight. Once again, Christmas night's charm had cured your typically wild looks. Down the stairs to the company below. Your walked elegantly, your back straight and your shoulders back. Your green dancing slippers were silent and graceful. The dancing began. You were asked by a pudgy man with watery eyes who looked old enough to be your father. He continually stepped on your toes during the entire dance. You decided to find somewhere to sit down and secretly rub the pain from your feet. It was safely in a deserted corridor, and therefore hidden from people's prying eyes. Unfortunately, someone was already there. "Oh!" You exclaimed, looked around very quickly to see upon who you had intruded. It was a boy. "Sorry-" He said quickly, jumping out of the way. His face was flushed and he looked embarrassed, as if he'd been caught in something. "Oh, that's fine." You said hastily, trying to look dignified. You put your weight on one of your particularly injured toes and jumped slightly in pain, wincing ungracefully. He caught you barely, and pulled you upright again. You blushed, and he realized he still had his arm around your waist. He withdrew it hastily and you both looked at the floor for a moment. You dared a glance at him. He was thin and slightly tall. He had the look of a gentlemen, despite his presently noticeably red cheeks and bashful eyes. His hair was black and slightly unruly, and his eyes were blue. You thought they looked like they had some spirit in them. You cleared your throat. "Well," You began, making a bold attempt at trying conversation. "It is very pleasant to meet you, Mr..." "Ellis. Theodore Ellis." He said eagerly. Then he looked worried again. You grinned inwardly, but curtsied solemnly. "Well, Mr. Ellis, I'm Emma, Emma Doyle." He bowed. You were truly grinning now. There was a pause, and then he said "Ms. Doyle, may I have the honor of this dance?" "Quite." You replied gravely. Your eyes lit with mischief. "Come, I know somewhere better." You told him, and, not paying attention to propriety, marched off down the hall. He followed. You reached the balcony, and threw it open. "Far less stuffy, you see." You told him seriously. He nodded gravely. Once safely upon the cold stone, he extended a gloved hand. You curtsied and took it. It was a wonderful evening. Far more interesting and romantic than dancing with the officers in the stuffy room within. It felt like something out of one of my novels. Theodore didn't tread on your toes once, and didn't seem to mind when you faltered. Eventually, however, the both of you ended up perched on the stone railing. "So, what were you doing while hiding the corridor before." You asked. Your hair was no longer nearly so collected, and you eyes sparkled with a spirit improper for ladies. "I was mulling over my despair." He informed me. "And why is that?" You asked delicately, looked away. "Because the one I loved did not know I existed." He replied slightly pointedly. Your cheeks turned a pink as you looked boldly back at him. "And you did you love?" He opened his mouth but before he could answer there was a cry from within the house. "Emma! Emma, where are you?" Your mother demanded in a carrying voice. You jumped at the sudden noise, and slipped hurriedly from the balcony ledge. "I must go." You told him, abruptly feeling flustered and shy. Then you walked away into the house again, toward the source of the noise. You had a strange feeling you would see Mr. Theodore Ellis rather soon. Edit: Spelling and grammar.

imagine listening to this, you're in a log cabin in the woods as snow is falling with your s/o you are both getting decorations out and dancing while drinking hot chocolate and decorating; preparing for family and friends, but now it's just the two of you and the music.
  • I actually love this Christmas song, it's dark but a little light to it and not like the same old cheery Christmas songs we always hear all the time. I would definitely play this again on Christmas Eve.
  • This would be nice to listen to as you read A Christmas Carol by the fire with hot coco, wrapped in a blanket and fuzzy socks as it snowed outside.
