It was izzy without a shadow of doubt and you can literally see him performing with GNR at the Rio, Indiana and St. Louis (in '91) where they played tons of UYU 1 and 2 stuff including coma

Mostly half of the songs are or Izzy’s or “co-written” by him. 6 songs are 100% Izzy’s, Dust N’ Bones, You Ain’t the First, Bad Obsession, Double Talkin’ Jive, 14 Years and Pretty Tied Up, he appears as if he had co-written two of this songs (Dust N’ Bones and 14 Years) only because other members contributed with some minor things to them. 3 songs are a collaboration between Izzy and Axl, been Right Next Door to Hell mostly Axl’s and Don’t Cry, and You Could Be Mine mostly Izzy’s. 1 song (Perfect Crime) was a collab between those two but with some Slash’ input and finally Izzy had some minor input on Bad Apples. This adds up to a total of 12 songs of 30 because Don’t Cry appears twice. For the other songs, 8 where 100% Axl’s, 7 a collab between Axl and Slash, 2 covers and 1 from Duff’s, so Matt isn’ wrong in this video.
  • And that’s why we have that saying “where’s izzy?” Because he contributed to more than some fans realize. Hell, axl even went looking for izzy when he left Indiana

When was this ever questioned? The booklets for UYI I and II credit every musician and writer for every individual song. Not to mention all the photos in the booklets. There's only Izzy. There is and would be no mention of Gilby until The Spaghetti Incident. Gilby was in most of the music videos because Izzy left shortly after the albums came out is all.
