In the USA's terrible non-preferential voting system - these 3rd party and independent candidates are either:1) doing it for money, fame, ego or power, 2) to try and negotiate with a major party person by being a threat of a spoiler, 3) acting as a deliberate spoiler for a candidate. 4) delusional (most likely caused by 1)). They harm the candidate they are closest to - benefiting the candidate with the policies they disagree with the most. They come up with all the reasons why it doesn't matter "my votes only come from people who otherwise wouldn't vote", "maybe I'll pull out anyway if I can't win (after I have spent months criticising them and damaging their reputation), and "but that person similar to me is just so horrible that it doesn't matter if it hurts them".

As a South African we watch American politics with interest as it has a knock-on effect on our economy etc. What I am having difficulty understanding is how did a person like Trump even get to be a President and then a candidate again. Ms Harris is an easy decision. Please vote for her
