This is an ambient animated shot from Bladerunner with Bladerunner Blues (Vangelis) playing on (sort of) seamless repeat. It is a cinemagram or cinemagraph with music for 4 hours. Screensaver.

I guess this genre is called Slow TV. Tell me in the comments if you known more channels or keywords for this type of video.

  • My favourite movie of all time. It will never be surpassed. Everything about it is perfection. The music is an integral part of the movie.

I went with a group of friends to see this the first time. From the start I was transfixed, my eyes never left the screen. The world could have been falling apart around me and I wouldn't have noticed. Like a man dying of thirst, I wanted to drink in every detail without wasting a drop. Later, well after leaving the theater, my friends had plenty of jokes at my expense, at how I had sat motionless, wide-eyed and open mouthed the whole movie not even noticing when they took my drink away. I had a drink? Yeah, Blade Runner was transformative, ahead of its time but at precisely the right time for a kid my age at the time. Rutger's performance as Roy Batty is iconic, who hasn't seen that? Being named Roy myself, Roy Batty's death made an impression on me that day in the theater. All these years later I owe many of my best memories in life to that scene, moments I might have missed had I not slowed down and paid attention to the details, the special moments that pass quickly never to be seen again. The ones that keep me going during the lonely moments. More than any lesson in school, the lesson of being present in the moment was the most important, and that is Blade Runner's lesson. I, unfortunately, have never seen C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate, but still I have seen some pretty amazing things you people wouldn't believe. And I hope you have too, just because our memories don't last forever doesn't make them any less valuable.

Bladerunner was so far ahead of its time. Dick's story, the feel of the ambient sets, Vangelis' fantastic audio work. I was in high school when it came out and had no idea who Dick, or Ridley Scott or Vangelis were, but I knew this was something special and it has stuck with me ever since.

  • Incredible movie, shadow details and story out of this world. The sound track I think is what made it over the top. All around a masterpiece no doubt.

For anyone who loves the moody dystopian vibe of this movie world I can recommend the old Bioshock game series.. I spent a lot of time just wandering around the levels enjoying the beautifully decaying world of Rapture with a whisky on the rocks to keep me company and was in no rush to get through the game cos I was happy mooching around the leaking corridors and abandoned rooms with golden oldies still echoing down the halls long after the society had collapsed.

I love the incredible detail that went into designing this city! Too crowded. Drenched in endless acid rain. Trash blowing around instead of leaves, the sheer scale of it is so dope.

To everyone reading this and listening. Close your eyes, inhale and feel the air in your lungs give life to your beautiful soul. and as you exhale, release the tension in your shoulders, ease the tension in your neck and the back of your head. Allow peace to flow inside of every fiber and vein in your body. You are doing great. No matter what you are going through. You will be just fine. Hugs to you all..

MAY YOUR SOUL HOVERS IN PEACE ACROSS THE CORNERS OF THE UNIVERSE DEAR VANGELIS
  • Vangelis is a god. Not was. Is. He's just transitioned to the realm ethereal, to bring his art to all the other eternal beings who've been awaiting his arrival. I saw Blade Runner on its release in June '82, at the tender and impressionable age of 19. It had the most profound effect on me, and still ranks in my top 5 movies. The music by the then unknown to me Vangelis (I didn't connect with his famous Chariots of Fire score until a little later) was so utterly involving that I felt like I was enveloped by and subsumed within a soul-penetrating sonic comforter that simultaneously electrified my mind. To be awash in his lush soundscapes is to experience the numinous.
