my dad and i used to go for a movie every few weeks; it was extra special to me because my parents had just gotten divorced and this was his way of bonding with me. when he took me to watch interstellar, i was 13. he was so excited to watch it bc he loved space (it's where i got my love for it too). i remember sitting in that theatre and just being in absolute awe of what i was seeing. we didn't say a single word to each other the entire time—we were captivated. once it ended, we couldn't stop talking about it. my dad was a sucker for christopher nolan and hans zimmer, and this movie was just perfection in his eyes. he loved it so much. it's been 2 years since he was taken from me. i miss him everyday. i haven't been able to make myself go see a movie in a theatre since he passed—it hurts too much to do something that was ours without him. i want to watch interstellar again so badly because it's such a beautiful movie, but i know i will be an inconsolable mess for weeks. this movie reminds me of him so strongly that just listening to this soundtrack makes the grief come back swinging. if i see this father try so desperately hard to come back to his daughter again, 10 years later, i don't think i'll recover. at least, not for a while. that persevering love reminds me of my own father, who i know loved his daughter so very much. i miss you, nana. i hope one day i'll be strong enough to be able to sit in a theatre again. when that day comes, i'll probably be able to watch this movie again too. for now, i'll just settle for listening to this soundtrack that you ranted and raved about for years. i love you.

This movie came out shortly after my dad passed away. I saw it in cinemas and all i could think about was my dad, he was a very big science and space guy. I always imagined him as the protagonist in this movie. He would of absolutely loved this movie as much as I did. The music in this gets me so emotional :(

Fun fact, this entire soundtrack is less than one second on Miller's planet.

I’ll never forget the feeling of walking out of the theater after watching this film. This movie and soundtrack changed my outlook on life forever.

    Oscar doesn't deserves this masterpiece...
  • The only regret I will ever have in my life is that I did not watch this movie in the theaters. Perfection.

  • I still can't believe this awesome piece of art didn't won an oscar... Superb work on every note and feeling. Zimmer at his best... The price is for us... Thanks.

My daughter passed as an infant. I saw this movie in the theater. The raw, jagged, overpowering emotion in this music and movie left me baughling in the car after. So powerful, almost impossible to not be taken somewhere deep. When he tries to communicate with his daughter through the dust and books.... I lost it.

I remember when it came out in theatres, I got my Dad to come watch it with me. We didn't go until the following February because the last few months of 2014 had been a whirlwind of pain for my whole family. I saw a few interviews and such which kindled my love of science-fiction and fueled my desire to see it. I was awe-struck... I'm sure my Dad was as well. But there was more than awe we felt, we were speechless.. As I sat there in the theatre, my thoughts were also of my Mom. My Mom LOVED this kind of sci-fi... the kind that wakes up one's imagination, as Close Encounters of the Third Kind did for kids, both young AND old, back in 1977 and 1978 (yes, it was in the theatres for well over six MONTHS back then). But Mom had died in 2014, so I wanted to go see it in her memory, but also to get my Dad out of the house and hopefully fill his senses with other thoughts, even if for just a couple hours. I know I am not alone in how deeply this movie affected one's psyche, especially for anyone who had lost a loved one in their lives. There were many moments throughout the movie that caused my eyes to become blinded with tears. Some because of the sheer WONDER of this incredible story.. Some from putting oneself into the place of these characters. Some because Mom wasn't here to share in this experience. And some, for my Dad, because as well as losing Mom in 2014, he also lost his son, my brother, 2 days after Christmas of 2014... Hans Zimmer's compositions added IMMENSELY to just how profound an effect Interstellar has on me. When I see the movie, when I hear the soundtrack, I invariably think of Mom, and still tear up to this day. I didn't know until right before I decided to add my comment... Interstellar was first released on October 26, 2014... the day my Mom passed. We miss you Mom. "Love is the one thing we're capable of perceiving that transcends dimensions of time and space. Maybe we should trust that, even if we can't understand it."

I am an aerospace engineer and I can assure you that whenever I work on a space related mission/project, I certainly have this playing in my headset. This entire soundtrack is what further fueled my passion for aerospace engineering.
  • @poseidonasas
My dad was a space enthusiast. I developed this love for space myself when he passed away. I feel so emotional when hearing the themes from interstellar because I remember him saying, when I am gone , one day, you can always look up and see me again since the stars are billion years away and for them we are still all alive.
  • This soundtrack captures the loneliness, wonder, emptiness and beauty of space so perfectly. It’s truly one of a kind.
