This video covers our trip from Belur to Manjarabad Fort, Karnataka.
Please note that Manjarabad Fort can also be reached directly from Bangalore via Nelamangala - Hassan - Sakleshpur - Manjarabad Fort. Since we were in Belur we decided to visit Manjarabad Fort via Belur - Bikkodu - Bhage - Sakleshpur - Manjarabad Fort.

About Manjarabad Fort:
Manjarabad Fort is the only most complete star shaped fort in India. It derives its name from Kannada word 'Manju'(ಮಂಜು ) meaning 'fog', since most of the time fort is covered with fog.

Built period: 1785-1792

Built By: Tippu Sultan (1750- 1799)

Manjarabad Fort is Located in Donigal,988 metres (3,241 ft) above sea level.
42 Kms from Belur, 6 Kms from Sakleshpur Town, 226 Kms from Bengaluru (Bangalore), 125 Kms from Mangaluru (Mangalore).

Purpose of the Fort:
Constructed mainly for defense, to store ammunition and to stop British attack from west coast side.
Territory: Manjarabad Fort is located

Features and Legend:
Plus shaped well in the mid of the fort seems to be the only
natural water source.
Underground bunkers (indicated by arrows) are assumed to be
used to store gunpowder. These rooms remained cool
even during summer months.
It is said that a underground tunnel from these bunkers
connects Srirangapatna town (Tippu Sultan's capital).
British reportedly filled this tunnel with dead bodies, which
were not of their men.
The passageways are closed now because of low oxygen
levels and some instances of homicides.

Good video, there is a controversy as to when it was built, it was built much before 1750, when Tippu took over he modified it to his requirements, the star shaped structures were of the Hoysala times, all the structures during Hoysala are in shape of a star, including Belur temple, so kindly stand corrected there in the video, your video is an excellent piece of work as much as the Fort...
