That guy who threw it instead of taking a TO will remember that for the rest of his life 😢

Can we give credit to Garrett Hein as well? He made two clutch free throws, stole the ball, and passed the ball to Pegues.

Lost in all this is Garrett Hien, a 51% FT shooter, making both shots with 12 seconds to go.

Furman's execution of that trap was absolute poetry in motion. The shot was huge, but that trap though.....

This is why March Madness is the best sporting event in the world. So many last-second shockers and upset wins. I love it.

I was at the game in the Furman section and they were never really out of the game, even when they were down by 12. They just kept clawing back even if shots weren't going their way. Just kept clawing, but played solid defense throughout. #13 for Furman, Garrett Hien was PIVOTAL and that dude played with so much heart. It was a great game to see in person. And that's how I spent my birthday. I'll have that memory forever!
  • Shout out to the 50% free throw shooter who made both of his free throws right before the shot to make that a game winning three.
  • Talk about throwing the game away. This brings a whole new meaning to that saying.

If y’all don’t remember, furman had the same exact looks on their faces as Virginia in their conference final last season when Jean baptiste made that crazy game winner for Chattanooga. It all comes full circle, they deserved this

Furman was going to be a great story no matter what; ending the 43-year drought after nearly getting knocked off in the SoCon semifinals by Western Carolina, but this elevates them to an all-time classic March Madness moment that will be talked about forever. Great for those kids.

Really awesome. JP Pegues is a Furman Legend. What was really cool too is that he was the first person to shake as many hands as he could with the Virginia players/staff as soon as the game ended. Respect congrats Furman!

This just goes to show you how costly one turnover can be. 🏀
  • @bushbasher85
At least Virginia can say that this game was close unlike the UMBC game from a few years earlier.

Pegues' post-game interview is inspiring. Love the confidence.
