You NEED to set steering to simulation when using a wheel. Otherwise, the game cuts the range of motion short, and you can't fully steer. This has been true for the forza games for quite some time now.
-
absolutely HUGE step-up by Forza going from 180 degrees of steering angle to 360. Hopefully we'll unlock the next 180 degrees in another 10 years
-
Thanks! that is the kind of review we need, no chit chat, straight on the subject, and in a good level about it, not just superficial.
-
The biggest problem with forza wheel is the slip feedback. Especially in motorsport. There isnt enough feel on top of the fact that wheel input seems dampened to the point of not having enough countersteer to compensate even when you know the rear is slipping.

The critique I’ve been waiting for
-
The lack of a radar makes it difficult to anticipate the movement of cars around you, which is a major problem because the mirrors in the cockpit are not positioned correctly so that you can use them. It doesn't look as if they've learned much from FM7's mistakes, but these issues could be corrected in time. There appears to be noticeably more input lag as well.

I think the view with no wheel, would be best, as if the rotation does not quite match it would drive me crazy. So not used to playing on a flat screen with a wheel, much like your self I have always used a pad for Forza, much prefer VR\wheel but willing to give it a try. The car definitely rotates better with a wheel, tbh the oversteer seemed more believable.

Thanks stud, been waiting for this preview nice job!
-
Love the 2nd cockpit view with no wheel, wish GT7 would add something like that.
-
Great to see that improvements have been made. Would definitely like to see a comparison between the FM and GT7 using the same car models to really see how they compare after the game release.
-
Was waiting for this; thank you!!!
-
Great stuff thanks Steve! Really looking forward to FM, seems like itll be a fun casual racing game to hop into when I'm not in the mood for more "serious" stuff like iRacing
-
Thanks for the video! I personally didn't like the feedback (nor was I able to tune to my liking) in FM7. Seeing this, I'm not too hopeful that it's going to be much better this year. Forza has had a problem where cars will understeer or oversteer a bit too much, and I wasn't able to feel that quite right with a CSL DD. But I hope for the best

Make sure pneumatic trail scale is higher and load sensitivity is on the higer side because youll feel the tires more also aligning torque needs to be higher too the heavier the better youll feel when the car lose grip or understeer steering linearity needs to be 50 so you will have a 1 to 1 with the input i say retest it with better settings and see if that changes anything i can provide said settings if you like also you should try 540 steering rotation

The video I've been waiting for, for ages. Pleasant to watch 🤝

5:34 That silver Mustang coming out of the pits and flooring it off the track killed me hahahahha

I had a thrustmaster that I used with FM5-7. It wasn't too bad. I updated to a CSL Elite, but was shifting more and more to iRacing at that point. But FM wasn't too bad with the wheel and I did have a lot of fun when not getting wrecked.

Not having sim steering is what causes those lazy spins. Was the same way in FM7. Without sim steering the game tries to give you super smooth inputs (Mostly for controller and keyboard players) and as a result the smooth steering gives a really numb and disconnected feeling. So I assume as with FM7 sim steering will make the wheel experience 100x better than without it

Interesting video thanks, no doubt I'll have to spend some time adjusting my wheel settings, I enjoy racing and drifting so will try and find a setting thats good for both.

Just when I thought my day couldn't get any better BOOM another great episode!
