I had a customer bring his Dodge Durango equipped with the 3.6 Pentastar in the shop with overheating problems. He told me that he had the head gaskets replaced by a previous mechanic but the vehicle is still overheating.
In this video, I go through my normal diagnostic procedures and discover the truth.
Comment your 2 cents below, I love to hear from you guys.

I've never understood how someone purporting to be a mechanic can scam a customer like that. Of course that's what contributes to the image of all mechanics being cheaters/scammers. I'm a relatively new view of your channel. I'm a former tech/mechanic, from many years ago. I've come to your channel attracted by your professionalism. Everyone should be so lucky to find a tech/mechanic like you in their area. Thanks for a good video.

Alex is a literal angel to my heart he reminds me so much of my mentor that showed me my Tallent for working on cars. The way he goes about diag the way he is just so intelligent about such a wide variety of vehicles and just seems to heal them with his hands warms my soul to the core. I would give anything to work in a shop with Alex to continue my learning from

Great job, Alex. I see this every day here in Jackson, MS. Shops charging for a fix that's not fixed because of poor diagnosis

good call Alex a long time ago in the 1980s when small block chevys were eating cams I did one, cam and lifters it ran great but came back with a rod knock a few months later, lesson learned that metal makes it into the bearings

Alex. You need to adopt a few new sayings. 1. Hacks bring me stacks! (of money) & If you aint checking, your guessing! Proper diagnosis is the key to a successful repair! Love the channel and I hope that customer takes that last garage to small claims court for services not provided! Please do a follow up and let us know the outcome of this case. PS I have a 2015 Durango Citadel and its in excellent condition at 78,000 miles.

yes Alex the last job I did at my shop was on E, a caravan for stabilizer bushings and a tie rod, I have to align it and road test it, I was in a good mood that day just put 20 bucks in it got it back when they payed the bill, just things we have to deal with

Great video .Thanks for sharing ,Alex .The customer should have asked If for $1,200, replacing the head gaskets ,would guarantee that it will resolve the issue of running hot. If the mechanic hesitates with his answer, I would RUN not walk away !
