Abandoned mom dog frozen in scared! Her whole story is heartbreaking, heartwarming, filled with love

Several days ago, we were made aware of a Momma dog about to pop. She was living on the streets on Flomaton. We agreed to take her, not knowing anything at all about her, and another rescue has been trying to catch her. She eluded capture and proved to be quite street smart. Finally, this morning, she was caught inside a woman's shed. She had been very reactive with humans and the catch team decides to give her some sedatives. Well...it was AFTER she took the sedatives that they realized she already birthed 5 pups in an old chair in the shed. They couldn't even get a leash on her.
When she arrived, she was in a plastic airline crate with now six babies. (one was born while the AC officer had her on the pole.) We carried the crate into the Mommy & Me Suite and opened the door to allow her to settle. She eventually staggared out of the crate but was very wobbly. I managed to get her pups out of the kennel quickly but couldn't even get them in the whelping box before Momma was coming after me...or atleast trying to. Thankfully, she was still very "drunk". She has since birthed a 7th baby and were unsure if she is done. We cannot enter the kennel or touch either Momma and babies. Right now, all we can do is sit back and hope for the best.

The sadness and wariness in mama dog’s eyes is heartbreaking. She clearly has suffered and hasn’t always been treated kindly. Thank you so much for all you’ve done for Cayenne and her babies.

What WONDERFUL PEOPLE YOU ARE. Dealing with a dog because they have been so abused, abandoned and betrayed is the highest skill. For the love of dogs. Thank you so much for your patience and rescuing this family. Her trusting behaviors are sure signs she was once in a home and loved a human. So wonderful to see her progress.
