The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq ($69,830 starting in Canada, $58,590 in the US) is the first all-electric vehicle from Cadillac and it aims to demonstrate the future direction of their vehicles. The Lyriq sends 340 horsepower and 325 lb ft of torque to the rear wheels and has a claimed range of 505 km (314 miles) in base form. An even more powerful AWD trim is available, but it has slightly less range. In terms of interior luxury, the Lyriq also has a massive 33 inch display, an optional 19 speaker AKG sound system and GM Super Cruise capability. But how does Cadillac’s first foray into the EV space hold up against the competition? And is it worth the price tag? We hope you enjoy the episode! Subscribe!

And the Oscar goes to: Thomas Holland, for his incredibly believable performance in LYRIQ: A Mercedes in Disguise.

The intro’s funny, but it’s also making a really good point about accessibility and a general industry failure to do a decent job.

Agree this looks good and much better than the weird competition. I just wish they would stop over complicating things like doors. It's so incredibly easy and intuitive to open a mechanical door in 1 smooth motion.

James' analogy regarding the first cars looking like carriages and all is the perfect way to explain EVs with grills. He described it so brilliantly and with so many less words than I'd be able to. Lyriq is the best execution of a fake grill I've seen, but they're really unnecessary and honestly speak to just how risk-free and afraid car companies are.

Only Thomas would think “garlic sauce” was a brand name 😂

Never stop with the amazing intros guys 🤣

I like a front grill look like you said, even when no longer needed with EVs. Helps to break it up and add style. Manufacturers should keep adding these, but evolve and improve it to use a material that won't get road rash and look bad after 5 years.
  • James could have been a fantastic First Responder. The way he kept his cool while James was slowly dying. Amazing. 👏

This is the show that fills the Top-Gear sized hole in our hearts... and they do a DAMN good job. I'd argue "better" in many instances.

13:10 "It's an ingenious solution to a problem that should have never existed in the first place" -James May Also that glove box is an absolute deal breaker for me, probably the definitive example of adding tech for the sake of adding tech

“What color Mach E would you get” got me 💀

A guy at my job had one of these as a loaner and they look absolutely amazing on the inside and that sound system is something to just have to hear to believe!
  • just got our 2024 Lyriq one of the first in Canada very nice been loving in 1 month we have already reached over 5000km it has been a great drive except minor apple car play issues.
  • @Shahabbi
One of the best intros y’all have done. I hope the manufacturers watch this and understand the mistakes they are doing
  • This felt like a… highly produced episode of Extra Throttle House with you guys in the car together 😂 Love this format for these types of cars

My university amongst others gets one of these to basically strip it down and reverse engineer it, from the manufacturing to the coding. Really excited because I like this car alot and did not imagine getting a Lyriq specifically to break down and learn

For once someone has made an EV vehicle with an interior that still has some visual emotion left in it and doesn't look like something out of the Jetsons!

James's comment "It's a lovely place to be...just don't press on anything too hard." Pretty much sums it up. I remember when Car & Driver first tested this and said it was a luxury bargain. This e-car market is moving really fast.

I like how it whistles as it drives along. Most evs generate either no sound or something thats just annoying to hear. But this one, not bad. Looks great too
