VOLUME WARNING AT 11:54 - 11:56 I'm so sorry. Also Umbrella Chronicles 2 isn't a thing lol - it's called Darkside Chronicles. Don't know how that got past me in post.

It was weird to me that they use Remake Jill, but modern-ish Leon, Chris, Rebecca, and even a MUCH more classic Claire. What a hodgepodge of design.
  • @KaelImm
agreed, jill traumatize so hard she turned into her remake persona
  • Jill has been the less character character I’ve ever seen. What’s crazy is that Chris also changes VA’s constantly yet his persona as a character is somewhat consistent.
  • @brandong7784
It sucks when your favorite characters start changing like this and no one seems to notice, thanks for bringing this up
  • What's interesting is that they had the right idea with Chris in RE8: his facial features from re5 were still obviously prevalent, but they transitioned the face into the RE8 engine and made him older and I think it worked perfectly. At this point it's kinda too late to do that with Jill, but it has been done before. So it's kinda weird how inconsistent they are with Jill.
  • It's funny, too. Because back in re3 remake Jill said she was gonna burn the clothes since you know they smell like the garbage from the sewers. Unless you want us to believe she either bought the extra outfit again or wash the heck out of it. Or she has a drawer full of blue tank tops

I really miss the old version of Jill, the current Jill gives me a deep sense of disconnection.
  • @Genghiskhan903
Something that also annoyed me is that there isn’t the scar from the mind control device in re5 even though the death island movie acknowledges the events in re5
  • @samberlitz765
I definitely agree about Ada and Jill. Claire on the other hand i can kinda see her developing into her sassy, overconfident version from Code Veronica if they do a remake of that.
  • Leon feels the most consistent in the remake timeline. His RE2R and RE4R counterparters feel much more logical towards him, becoming a grizzled veteran by the events of RE6/Vendetta.
  • Chris punching the boulder was the completion of his character arc. It was beautiful. The writers could have created a sophomore scene where Chris monologued about 2007 American politics, but instead he punched a boulder.

Watching Chris call Jill - literally - reckless and lecturing her was one of the most insulting things Capcom has ever done. Jill was supposed to have more emotional intelligence than all of the STARS since she was a bomb disposal, being calm and emotionally intelligent were pre-requisites of her job. Especially compared to Chris who used to be a insubordinate badboy in his youth. It was a major role reversal that make no sense at all. Jill's trauma wasn't about not saving enough people, she always did it to the extent possible. But rather not having control over her own actions and hurting innocent people. Her behavior in the movie is just unjustified and an insulting attempt of capcom to welcome newcomer RE3 remake fans. Absolutely nothing more than that. I go beyond that. Capcom seems to use the same ready-made tamplate for all female characters from REV2 onwards. Same one-sided tough woman thing. Just change the name and sometimes the outfit, just like the less talented western hollywood writers do. For these and other reasons, I always thought Japanese writers were more talented with women. But clearly something has changed in capcom's office. Tha sadly part is to see fans desperate to defend the company new code of conduct just to ensure the next product's existence, even if it means their complete lack of conection with the previous one or dignity.

4:12 "her portrayal of vocal performance & choice of words & body language shows she was designed by a Japanese dude" This actually made me remember that Jill is actually meant to be half Japanese, it was mentioned in the booklet or something to the original game if I remember correctly.
  • Jills changes feel the most overt and glaring. Which has always felt weird to me because she's always been a fan favorite. They redo Leon and they keep him mostly intact, they spruce up Chris and Claire and they're different but you can still get their personalities and they stay distinct. The changes they made to Jill, though? It's a different vibe altogether, a full on retcon, I'd say. It makes me wonder what was happening behind closed doors that made them take such a drastic left turn with her. OG Jill will be missed.
  • im pree sure in RE3 remake Jill literally says (in the sewer fights) that she needs to burn her clothes after the mission, so the fact that she had the same clothes is funny to me
  • @oneconn9959
Funny thing about original Jill is that she absolutely could kick your ass, which is why I assumed she was so kind, in a world like resident evil you had to able to afford to be kind. She could defend herself and others, she was kind because she was always prepared for things to take a turn for the worse but never wanted them to
  • @meadowsz5390
Honestly with how Ada seems to be more attached and snarky and Leon seems less attached and more business-oriented/serious it seems like their personalities were swapped and the same goes for Claire who was more independent and hard and Jill who was more gentle and cautious. It feels like they were swapped too. Idk how these decisions were made and I'm alright with their changes in some ways but I do miss how they were originally.
  • @ShikiRyougi05
I'm truly baffled about how capcom treats Jills character and her appearances... I mean... they could've ATLEAST give her some minor scarring on her chest😐
  • @Ismatic1906
as someone who has never heard of Jill Valentine and clicked on this video for absolutely no reason, I refuse to leave.
