People don't truly understand how insane this is. To not only be the best in the United States at swimming but the World in MULTIPLE disciplines. The hours swimmers put in just to be a "good swimmer" is mind boggling. The guy is the greatest Olympian ever.

Other players - Compete against each other Michael phelps - Competes against the clock!
  • @GianniTuratta
He won more gold medals (23) than 115 countries, and the 2.1% of the USA gold medals... what a legend
  • @Melodic_Music.
Not only did Phelps just win all golds, but he smashed the WR in many of his races as well ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
  • He checked all the boxes to be the greatest Olympian of all time. Most medals wonโœ… Most gold medals wonโœ… Most gold medals in a single Olympic โœ… World record breaking performances โœ… Longevity (2000-2016)โœ… This guy changed the perspective of mainstream world about swimming. He made swimming popular more than ever. I still remember how he lost to Le clos in 2012 Olympics and came back in 2016 to prove his haters wrong. I missed him a lot during Tokyo Olympics. I don't think his legacy will be matched in near future.

That 4 x 100m Freestyle relay finish at 8:50 will forever give me chills.

after 2004 athens olympics he said in his interview that he did not take a single holiday from training till the 2008 beijing olympics and trained for 12 hrs a day. That is insane amount of hardwork.

fun fact: Phelps' goggles filled with water during the 200 fly, but he counted his strokes from years of training in the dark mornings at University of Michigan. Source: No Limits, by Michael Phelps

Respect to Laszlo Cseh, seem to always be on the podium. If he wasn't competing in the same generation as Phelps he might have a couple of golds by now.
  • @heinleinreader
Not only 8 gold medals, but it was also 7 world records and one Olympic record. Outstanding.
  • I started swimming after watching him swim at the 2008 Olympics and still swimming to this day ... MY GOAT

It is very difficult for an average person to understand the dedication, strength, perseverance, passion, and willpower it takes to jettison your body through water at maximum efficiency for this long with this much pressure. Simply outstanding.

8 gold medals, 7 World Records, 1 Olympic Record. Absolutely ridiculous. Almost completely 100% perfect
  • I can't even wrap my head around how much strength, energy, stamina, and focus it takes to do this. Incredible.
  • @trevorprice13
16:27 I can't believe that Phelps tumble turns, the next two swimmers tumble turn and rise into their stroke but Phelps is still dolphin kicking underwater. His tumbles take him deeper and further. Masterful technique.
  • Michael Phelps is the greatest Olympian of all times with 23 Olympic Gold Medals with 28 Olympic medals overall. This number is so mind blogging. Winning an Olympic gold medal is already such an achievement
  • @lv4519
Imagine being at the Olympics having confidence in yourself and all of a sudden this dolphin of a man comes to the pool. My heart goes out to them
  • @jarnamhar
It is one thing to win gold medal in all races, but to also set new records in those races is pretty much out of the world. Absolute domination. The legend!โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ
  • @harikc7584
A true legend. He has won more gold medals than 93 countries.
