Hi everyone! Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is SO CLOSE!!! This video is a musical breakdown of the new MAIN THEME from Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, which we first heard in the Producer’s Gameplay Demonstration. I do play my saxophone and demonstrate the chords and theme on piano. I try to keep the music theory “light,” and keep the pacing moving. One times I do Director’s Cut versions, but this time I opted to do a BOTW References video in lieu of a longer breakdown.

    As someone who grew up playing Zelda since I was literally a toddler and someone who has been obsessed with music theory my whole life almost entirely BECAUSE of Zelda music, I must say, your YouTube channel is exactly what I have been waiting for since I was in the 6th grade, so naturally it has become my absolute favorite channel very quickly. I already get so excited getting a notification from here. Keep doing what you're doing man, its awesome.

    Dude, I found you probably about 2 weeks ago and I was instantly pulled in. I love music, even used to play Saxophone from Middle school through College. Having you break down the music this way is just amazing! My mind is just blown by how many more references to past Zelda music there is in these songs. I usually pick out a few but nothing like this. You have officially become one of my favorite Youtubers. Definitely have to say Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game. I hope Tears of the Kingdom can take that Crown though.

    Apparently HANDS was a theme throughout development of the game from an interview today. Clapping hands even in the music for the game.

    Wow what an amazing in-depth breakdown! As a musical noob I really appreciate seeing all these nuances to the music i love i haven't noticed before (maybe subconsciously but never actively), so thank you. Also what love about this new main theme is the fact that the dominant instrument, which used to be a piano in BotW (pianos being and sounding very melancholy and somber, fitting for BotW), now replaced by the arhu (exotic, other-worldly and adventurous). To top it off, the piccolo, the sax (both being kind of wind-y instruments) and some violins i think (very soft), both accentuate the fact that we are in the sky! I find it amazing how many little things are hidden in Zelda songs, not just musical easter eggs, but also the symbolism of the music/melodies themselves! Please keep these great videos going!

    The noodling you did around 6:38 reminds me of a bit of Twilight Princess, Hyrule Field(Night), due to it being the relative minor of F#; Eb minor. My brain just decided to connect the two, even though I don't think anything else connects since Hyrule field modulates between Ebm9/Bb to Abm9/Eb and that section is more F# focused.
