When school teachers can fight better than the ministry .

“A true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.”

The really give Flitwick his moment to shine here. Not only does he initiate the shield, he's also the one right on the bridge, right at the front to confront trolls and dementors. Small man, giant heart.

"i always wanted to use that spell" SHE'S SO CUTE LIKE WTH
  • "I've always wanted to use that spell"- That muttered excitement of Prof. McGonagall while saying those words and the childish blush that followed was such a adorable moment. It was like a kid finally getting his hands on a Christmas present that was wrapped for years.

“And now — Piertotum Locomotor!” cried Professor McGonagall. And all along the corridor the statues and suits of armor jumped down from their plinths, and from the echoing crashes from the floors above and below, Harry knew that their fellows throughout the castle had done the same. “Hogwarts is threatened!” shouted Professor McGonagall. “Man the boundaries, protect us, do your duty to our school!”

I'm so happy that after all the deaths in Harry Potter, McGonagall isn't one of them 🙂
  • the fact that in the book fitwick was the only one casting the spells to put the shield over Hogwarts is amazing because it shows just how powerful he is because he's half goblin and a dueling champion apparently

I love when she says why don't you confer with Mr Finnegan.... Finnegan steps up and says I can bring it down. You can totally tell he's been imagining and picturing and planning ways of doing that just for fun and now he gets to use those plans.

"I've always wanted to use that spell!" Mrs. Weasley: ._.
  • I love how she simultaneously pulled off one of the most savage and badass McGonagall moments as well as the cutest McGonagall moment all within the span of a few seconds
  • I love how Molly looks at Minerva when she says Voldemort. It shows just how much Harry and the rest of the kids mean to most of the teachers at Hogwarts.

And to think, Dame Maggie was in treatment for breast cancer the whole time these movies were being filmed. A true heroine. ❤️

Do you ever look at a scene and just marvel at how excellently directed it is? I loved everything about this scene. The way the stone knights responded to McGonagall, how we saw the shield charm from from various people combined to form a protective barrier around the school. How Minerva almost giggled with child-like excitement about using that spell 😄 The callback of Seamus always blowing things up in his face. I just love this scene, honestly.

Slughorn looks and sounds so broken when he's casting the spell.... as if the reality that he inadvertently had a hand in all this finally set in. Still, major props to him for still doing his part in the battle.
