How to troubleshoot your windlass: if the unit does not pull up the anchor

Problem:
The winch cannot be weighed: the electric engine runs, the shaft runs, but the gypsy is still although the brake belt is loose.

Possible causes:
1.1 The gypsy is not closed on the clutch cones and slips under the load effect, or for some
reason the closing wheel is at end stroke. Check out all pieces in sequence.
1.2 The clutch cones or the gypsy cones are deformed and the clutch
hubs are in contact and prevent closure.

Solution:
1.1 Check out clutch tightening. If necessary, measure the parts and check out possible
deformations. It is possible to add some thickness to stem the problem. Then replace the
damaged parts.
1.2 Replace the clutch and/or the gypsy

Thanks...very fast adjustments. My neighbors had a different style and was telling me to take this and that apart. I did as the instruction on this video and it adjusted in 10 seconds!!

I have an old Lofrans Leopard. The manual says that I can use a winch handle to manually raise the anchor, but after I tighten the drum I cannot turn it any further. It’s too hard to turn and I don’t want to break anything. Am I doing something wrong?
  • What is in your Lofrans Maintenance Kit? I have a Project 1500 and want to buy the kit but I have no idea what is in it, nor does anyone who sells it seems to know what's included. Can you help me? By the way, I would highly recommend listing what is included in a kit so so people know what we're getting. For all I know, it's a bottle of lubricant and a polishing rag. That's not what I need

Why did the plastic guide break after a single use? Now it jams because it has no guide. Very cheap solution. Should not have purchased one.
