UK stabbing: 2 children killed, several others critically injured in northwest England knife attack

Nine other children were wounded — six of them critically — in the knife attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance party in Southport, a seaside town near Liverpool.
Two adults were critically injured, and police said it appeared they had been trying to shield the children from the attack.
Merseyside police called it a “major incident,” but said there was no wider threat to the public.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested, and a knife was seized following the attack. He is being held on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
