There's just something about the way old books feel, sound, and smell...

At this rate, you’ll be reading the original print of the Bible for video by 2026
  • I'm beyond pumped to see you've dropped a whisper video. Your whisper is very soothing. Always a pleasure and privilege to partake in your work. Many blessings to you and your family

It blows my mind that such amazing parts of history are still around, in such good condition, and able to be handled by the public. Feels like a string connecting us to the past. Thank you for sharing these treasures.

11:18 on why "s" look like "f" in old books: So this letter ſ is a "long s", it's inherited from roman cursive. It was used instead of our round s at the beginning and in the middle of words in most languages that used the roman alphabet. In typography, it was used until the late 18th century when it was replaced by the s we know and use today Also, may I recommend investing in a futon lectern for these old books ? They're soft but firm cushions which help you to prop up your books in a way that doesn't damage the binding while you read it. Old books, and specifically 16th and 18th century books are not meant to be open wide and doing so repeatedly could deteriorate the sewing and the leather. Just giving you this piece of advice as a book conservator. You seem to like old books and surely want to keep them safe :)

It would probably blow the authors mind to see how many people his book as reached from your video alone. These kind of numbers were insanely rare for the time, as books were more difficult to create, therefore more difficult to spread to large groups of people…especially world-wide lol and we all know you’re definitely gonna get more views too. So that’s just a crazy thing to think about. This author dude would have been more than happy to have his book in a few universities and a handful of libraries in Europe and America. And you’re sitting here showing it to potentially millions of people. Oh how far we have come.

The skill and knowledge astronomers of the past possessed to understand celestial movements is mindblowing. Same goes for ocean navigation back then. Another geat vid. Excellent content and always excited to see a new post.
