"See that Mountain? There’s a self-contained Ecosystem up there!" - Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall

A clip from my Daggefall Live-Stream series. People harken back to "See that Mountain? You can climb it!" comment from Todd Howard. Daggerfall was made before his time. Even though I'm playing a heavily modded version of the game, this mountain exists in the Vanilla game if you go to the same location. Gotta admit it's a sharp contrast to the mainly flat lands that most of Daggerfall is made out of. Also turns out this one is too steep to walk up, we had to use the climb skill the rest of the way.

The Mod List changes throughout the series, but at the time of this video, it's at Episode 25's linked modlist.

Wow, that guy was literally born as an RPG character sprite, and he fulfills his destiny by playing classic RPGs.

This mountain is what happens when you fall asleep on your mouse while using the environment editor.

It's so odd seeing something that huge in such a old game, almost looks like a textural glitch.
  • Some people: "why was Dagerfall 10x times bigger than Skyrimmm????" Because the level of detail was 2D trees + green dirt!

So these are the ancestors of the horses from skyrim land.
  • The horses of Skyrim are hardy and strong, and make up in endurance what they lack in speed...

"Climb skill" yeah defo before its time. And before our times as well. Climbing will probably never become a thing in non-survival games just because.
  • @DaedricNZ
That mountain looks more like a nuclear power plant
  • People in Skyrim: take an arrow to the knee, stop being an adventurer People in Daggerfall: feel somewhat bad

(Skyrim Conference) Todd: "See that mountain? You can climb that mountain." Zaric: laughs in Daggerfall

The climbing section looks like the ground in an early 90s flight sim.
