Emerald Weapon is one of Final Fantasy 7's optional SUPER Bosses and can be encountered from disk 2 onwards (once the party has gained access to the submarine).
I want to show multiple strategies for defeating the big green one but today we will focus on the most basic. Knights of the Round paired with HP Absorb and a leveled up Counter paired with Mime. Don't forget W-Summon and HP Plus though!

So, I thought of a way to make a small adjustment to your strategy which may prolong the fight, but will keep your whole party up at the end. Basically your setup but as a first cast, W-Summon Phoenix then KoTR. Phoenix revives anybody who's down and KoTR hits hard. Again, your same strat, just takes longer as not as much damage each counter-mime.

This is the strategy I used the first time I beat Emerald years ago. I love how if you're creative with your materia you can make some fights a total joke! Great minds think alike my friend.

Thank you for such marvelous strategy! I timed it in a way where I knew that Emerald was two KoTR hits away from being killed and decided to break the chain to have Tifa's Final Heaven hit instead, followed by Cloud's Omnislash, thus killing this thing in the most epic of ways! Thank you!

Yooo! I played this on my OG PS1 back in 1997, couldn’t crack this back then. Had a successful go now, got inspired to return after finishing Intergrade. My PS1 cd drive is on its last legs - what a satisfying way to finish. Thank you so much for this guide 🎉

Update: I mastered counter and got level 2 KOTR quickly and it worked exactly like the guide said. Thank you. Didn't have to spend hours grinding KOTR AP!!!
