I've been to Disneyland in California once when I turned 10, and i was terrified of the monorail cuz it went super fast and i froze in fear, but then I felt okay and now it's also my favorite ride

The furthest road trip we took was 4 1/2 hours to Disneyland atleast once a year and since my moms parents frequently moved across the country on a whim she was well equipt to handle two kids on a comparatively short road trip. We always stopped at the same little town for milkshakes and bathroom breaks at the Mad Greek in Baker, filled up in Victorville and had plenty of snacks to last the trip. I guess I was really lucky to have such smooth road trips. To this day I make a list of everything to pack, any snacks and a full music playlist to get me through even my longest drive. weirdly, the traveling has always been the easiest part for my family. my mother plays her music in the car and i daydream to it, my sister's on her phone, and my parents either talk together or my mom sleeps. during the actual trip there's always some kind of argument and it kind of dampens the vibe of the rest of the trip, even if we all recover by the next day

I went to Disney World once, and I only remember five things from it: 1. There was a “design-your-own-roller-coaster” thing, and at the end you got to ride the roller coaster you designed. So I tried to make the scariest roller coaster possible and I saw a part that I thought would be way more exciting than it actually was. I made my mom ride it with me and when we got to that part the side of it terrified her and when we went over it I was very disappointed because it was just a single loop with two rings around it, and not the intersectiing triple loops I thought it was going to be. 2. At some point I got a plushie of Marie from the Aristocats, and she came with a blanket with Velcro on two corners so you could wrap it around her, and it also a strawberry on one corner of it so it looked like a button when the Velcro was fastened. And on our way back home I met this other kid in the airport, who had a Simba plushie with a leaf blanket. So we introduced our plushies to each other while out parents talked. 3. There was a dinosaur-themed Build-A-Bear workshop. I got a fully-dressed green triceratops, and my brother got a naked orange velociraptor. And for the sound, I chose a 5-in-1 “teen girl’s phrases” sound, and my brother recorded himself screaming “FAMETHROWER” and then blowing into the microphone. 4. We ate at Cinderella’s castle, and all I remember about it was that my ice cream had a little chocolate crown on top (or it might have been plastic, I don’t really remember. I think it was chocolate) 5. At some point, I got cold while we were waiting for some kind of transportation (might have been a train, might have been the monorail) and my dad took his shirt off so I could wear it and be slightly less cold. And I think I might have been a bit of an ungrateful brat, because I remember complaining even though my there was really nothing else my parents could really do about it at the time. (Sorry dad. I know you tried your best)

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how fucking good the backgrounds and environment art have gotten in these?? I mean it was really good before, but now it looks like the kind of art you see in cartoons that has whole departments dedicated to backgrounds. Im really impressed by how much work Illy puts into these, its always exciting to see that notification from her
